Have you ever been publicly "outed" as a swinger to friends / family / work colleagues and if so how did you deal with it?

Look forward to hearing your true stories on this very delicate subject.

No, thankfully.

Though I did tell my family, myself, when I was doing something that could have been used to apply pressure to me. I decided I'd rather they heard it from me, even if the risk of them finding out was small.

"Good question mulberry.

A few years ago I was in a potentially disastrous situation. As a senior Director of a large company I was seeing a female work colleague very discreetly (she was married) and she did some extensive google searching of me.

She found a very very old swinging advert my ex wife and I had posted on a site that we had used (I had used my real name email address)

If she had blabbed I would have lost a very highly paid job for sure, but thankfully she kept it to herself.

Took me 6 months to get Google to remove the link and stop it appearing in searches.

Phew is a mild word for my relief !!! "

The phrase 'don't dip your pen in the company ink' comes to mind.

Hopefully you learned a bit of a life lesson there. (And it's worth considering - just because Google has removed it, doesn't mean it's not still out there and available to be found.)

People love exposing a good "scandal", sounds like you handled a potentially very awkward situation really well x

Like all of us, you wised-up to the realities of the internet, that's all. At least you were able to sort it in time...

Oh, my ex- bf told his new gf about what I get up to.

She thought it was hilarious to regale me with the details and tried to tease me about it. That fell flat because I'm not embarrassed.

I refrained from telling her a few things that he still finds absolutely mortifying in return.

one night a friend was staying the night, and got an invite to join us ... in the understanding that this is between us ..and no one else ...

within a week sweet lady was being propositioned, in not very subtle ways, by so many so called male friends .. ...and a few married friends? started being distant ...

we just lost the false friends ..as the friends we have today have shown their worth ....

Not in swinging but I used to have a friend who was a working girl and I knew all about it and her boyfriend/pimp kept hitting on me and trying to persuade me to pack in the day job and work for him

When he didn't get anywhere he tried blackmailing me and threatened to tell my family and my work that I was doing it anyway. So I faced him out and told my HR department I was being stalked and threatened. I didn't bother to tell my family anything because I had every confidence that they would have seen him for the abusive manipulative shit that he was and laughed in his face!

He couldn't understand why I wasn't bothered by his threats.

As for the swinging some of my friends and family know, those that don't probably wouldn't be surprised so I'm not outable or blackmailable.

Now that's guts, and a great example of how to deal with a potentially really bad situation.

Big respect to you x
