Windows Failed To Load

So I turned my laptop on today only fir it to start up with a 'windows failed to load' notification.

It went through some checks and attempted to 'fix' itself, restarted and now it seems to be fine. Now I'm afraid to turn it off!

Done a malware scan which came out clean.

No idea what's caused it but it's majorly annoying.

All important files are backed up.

Windows 7.

I did replace my hard drive last year so it might be the hard drive being difficult.

I would typically expect this if there had been some kind of data loss or corruption - make sure your backups are up to date, and run scandisk

Sounds to me one of the Windows start up files was corrupted or broken. This can happen with a driver update or os update. If happens again load in safe mode without network and check start up files plus reset any changes back to a more stable running period. You will know if it's a virus or malware as your machine will run very slow to the point you want to through it out of a window.

Hope it helps

I very much doubt it will be your hard drive unless you have not built your raid properly on installing a new drive??

Thanks for the help and comments, people!

I ran a malware and virus scan. Backed up files. Ran a scandisk.

It's booted up fine, no problems.

Everything seems fine, only time will tell if it happens again.

Thanks again!
