Up until a few months ago I only read crime thrillers.
I've gone all soft and have been enjoying historical romances recently.

I'm taking a break from more high brow literature.

If you like heartachy historical romance with feisty (but realistic) and cynical but ultimately loving men - go Judith McNaught.
Titles to start with:
Something Wonderful
Kingdom of Dreams
Almost Heaven.
They are as trashy and gorgeous as they sound! Absolutely delightful! ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Thank you! I've just googled those and realised that I've read one of hers already. Whitney my Love. Will be sure to try some of her other titles.
I rather like Gaelen Foley, Cheryl Holt and Stephaine Laurens. |

I've just finished that and really enjoyed it. Now reading The Girl in the Spider's Web, it's a follow on from the trilogy, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, by Steig Larsson. Obviously by a different author, as Larsson has died, but it follows the original characters, enjoying it!

" A Sport and a Pastime" by James Salter. Fascinating book about an American living in 1950s France, having a love affair with a French girl; written through the eyes of a narrator who is definately wierd .
" Jupiters Travels" Ted Simon; written about his round the world motorbike Trip in the 1960s; years before the idiots " Ewan and Charlie" did " The long way round" nonsense.
And ee cummings' erotic poems ... |

I've recently been reading Len Deighton's Bernard Samson series, pretty much end to end, they were that good. Also just read Philip Kerr's two football-based thrillers; not bad either. |

I like many of Ben Elton's books! Not so much his very early books - but his satirical books evolved really well - as are the 'social commentary ' books! My favourite book of his was Two Brothers though - a completely different genre for him! ![](/icons/s/2/idea.gif) |

I've just started Liar Liar by M.J. Arlidge.
The previous books to this are Eeny Meeny, Pop goes the weasel and The dolls house.
Excellent books, a must read. |

I'm following on from my last book and starting on all of the Ian (M) Banks books again.
Consider Phlebas first, then The Wasp Factory ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

"Alone by lisa Gardner
I was given that for Christmas but haven't started it yet. I have read other Lisa Gardner books and they were great, fast paced crime fiction with so many twists. Similar to Harlen Coben and Lynwood Barclay in style."
I couldn't put it down and finished it last night, will start another of hers today. Enjoy reading alone. |
