CONISTON .Stoke Suburbia. Staffs. BARMOUTH. The Lakes (Monthly)

A sprain and tear are one and the same.... It is just a case of terminology....ligament damage takes longer to repair than a fracture and requires more gentle exercise. ....sympathies though, because I tore mine a few years ago, it was only comfortable to rest it in the position it was originally twisted ouchhhhhhhh xxxxx

I tore mine years ago playing football.. my knee went out sideways.. the pain.. I thought I'd snapped my leg!

Had a full leg brace for weeks as it was unstable.

Just take it easy and keep resting.

And good luck with the nawty nurse search!

surely a sprain is just an over extension of it where as a tear is just that....the ligament gets permanently damaged.

My tear requires surgery to fix but as i a am not that sporty and can build my muscles up to compensate there is no need to go under then knife. i have never heard of anyone needing surgery to fix a sprain.

i'm off to google
