If you've not read the books, then I think it's fine.
I can totally understand it from the perspective of those who have read the books though.
It's shit when casting fucks with what you know someone looks like. |

"I agree. He doesn't measure up to the character in the novels. I'm not sure who I would prefer to see as Jack but Tom isn't the right man for it. " I think after seeing true detective, vince Vaughan would have been good

Apparently Tom cruise is going to be the lead in the new mummy film, unless it's going all serious I can't see that working like the ones with Brandon Fraser in

I've read all of the books and what a disappointment about Tom Cruise being roled in as Reacher, if I was Lee Childs I would hang my name in shame, though I do know sometimes have no say in the matter once they sell the rights. |

"Tom Cruise bought the rights to the Reacher movies so he could play the lead.
No legitimate casting director would cast him." thats a tad unfortunate for cinema goes and people who've read the books |

Whilst Cruise wasn't the right physical build, he got the character pretty close to the book. Plus it's not a bad adaptation of the book.
Now what I would like to see is Alex Cross given a fair shot in a good adaptation... |

There's also version with Tyler Perry playing Cross. It's God-awful. A stunning 12% on RT.
Now Alex Cross would be a great vehicle for Idris Elba. |

Yes defo should of been Denzel! Why they butchered the latest one and put an unfunny comic actor in it is beyond me too |

Tom Cruise will sell the film, that's the only reason he has been casted again. Film companies want to make money, no better way than to cast a movie superstar

"Dolph Lundgren would be my choice as he's one of the only decent action actors that enough Jack Reacher is 6'5" so is Dolph Lundgren"
He's also nearly 60 years old. No, the only actor who fits the role, in every sense, is Hugh Jackman. That's who I see anyway when I read a Reacher book. |

I always saw Sam Elliott as reacher from the first time I read "one shot" (the first book I read)
Nobody who has read the books will ever imagine Tom Cruise as Reacher. Having said that he produced a great film and if you set aside the fact that he has to stand on a box while filming and see it as a stand alone based on the books it works well.
If anyone has watched the Bosch series on Amazon Prime, Titus Wellever is pretty close to the Michael Connolly books and well worth watching if you get the chance.

"I haven't read any of the books but I thought Tom Cruise was was really good as Jack Reacher.
Book fans will always find problems with a film adaptation, there's no way of pleasing everyone. " everyone has their own personal image after reading a book but Tom Cruise is so far removed from anything imagined that there was bound to be a backlash. |
