Right, I'll come clean... I don't drink instant coffee!
There, I've outed myself!
So, over the years I've noticed, however, that drinking real coffee gets a negative reaction from lots of people. I could drink as much tea as I like, swill instant coffee by the pint, no one would bat an eyelid. But pull out a cafetiere, own an espresso machine, now there's bother. Negative looks and comments on a regular basis.
Is it just me? |

always proper coffee..havent d*unk instant for years now,have tea out and about or at someones house...no-ones ever commented on it other than to say what lovely coffee it is if ive made them one...you need to mix in better social circles! |

It's the same with Tea you know...
Offer a cuppa and open a box of pgtip (or any other generic floor sweepings of choice) and no one says a word, but ask who wants a cup of tea and follow it with Ceylon, Darjeeling or Earl Grey and you get the same reaction.

people call me "fussy" "picky" "snob" etc in a derogatory tone because I won't drink instant coffee but if I called them whatever the opposite of those words are there'd be outrage. I like what I like, I don't I'm better than anyone else because of it, it's just coffee. (Yirgacheffe for preference please  ) |

Yep I hear ya..
I'd rather drink nothing than instant stuff.
My friends call me a coffee snob, i grind the beans before I make it.. It's yum!
I just prefer not to drink horrible stuff is all. Their problem, not mine |

I have no clue. I don't particularly like instant either, so I'm biased and in the same camp.
The problem as as I'm concerned is that it's overpriced and many of the high st chains don't pay appropriate tax levels. |

You can't beat a good coffee before during and after sex as it makes you feel hyper :-   but let's carry on this thread with supernoodles too and see where we end up.

People make negative comments about you drinking coffee? What kind of weird ass world do you live in?
Can't beat a cup of proper coffee. I drink instant at work because I can't be arsed faffing around with a cafetière or filter but plenty of other people in my office do. |

After making around 80 cups of coffee a day I kind of have gone off it!!! Don't get me wrong I love myself a mocha but don't bring your fancy shit into my home and expect me to double shot your mug with my beans please!!

Mug of filter made in a custom jug that holds the filter paper in the top. Then a cup of instant made with milk when I get to work.
I like Jamaican blue mountain as a treat when I can afford it otherwise a decent Columbia or Brazilian grind.
I understand why people get all snotty about gadgets and machines like tassimo.
I wouldn't see the the point in having a gaggia machine at home, I think that would be nice but a little like overkill for me. |

Also where do you go to get all these negative responses. You must get offered alot of coffee by random strangers.
Anyway if you come here you get given a choice, instant, caffiterre or tassimo. No freshly ground as I don't have a coffee grinder so your be stuffed |
