i am pulling my hair out this week at work!!!!

we have a few campaigns that have gone ballistic and so everyone is working nine to the dozen but it has highlighted to me how useless people have become at finding things ut for themselves

they all sit their expecting me to be ale to magically come up with answers when i am not even trained on the fliiping campaigns!! sometimes its as easy as reading the training manuals yet they still ask me!!! even looking on the internet is beyond their means

i think i might punch someone before the week is out

Some people lack initiative to do anything for themselves, and need to be spoon-fed the tiniest details.

The way I normally deal with people like that is not to give them everything on a plate, and make them work for it.

Instead of telling them what to do, I would make them work it out for themselves, and to write it down in a notebook etc... So next time, they can refer to it.

It may take longer to get things done the first time round. However, it pays for the future IMHO.

I have been separated from my hubby for Nealy 4 months now and he is still coming to me to sort out the smallest problems that he might have, I did everything for him through out the 33 years we were together, all the paperwork, work and household, sorted out all the financial side of things, any insurances etc, there was absolutely nothing he did except go to work, I wouldn't mind so much but I wanted all ties cut when we separated and he has a girlfriend, who should now at least help him if not do things for him, so I think this is the perfect case of learned helplessness

however, for them to learn, you have to punch them every time they do something wrong... that way they will learn much the same as pavlov's dogs not to do whatever it is that they have done wrong and you have the satisfaction of punching them for annoying you... classic win-win solution

Maybe you could trade a fact for a punch then they will learn and you can feel satisfied that by punching them you are teaching them x
