I'd like to see the Broncos win it. Peyton Manning deserves another ring.

I don't think I could take another Tom Brady/Patriots Superbowl win.

Indeed, part of the owners master plan-new markets meaning additional revenue flowing back into the NFL pot through the selling of TV rights. Having followed the game avidly since 1984 it's been interesting to watch the developments.

I've followed the game since about then also. It's amazing how the game's grown. It's so much more popular on a global level than it used to be. I'd love to see a team in England.

That's great to hear Howard who's your team? One of the reasons that they've been playing around with the kick-off times with the international series is to gauge the reaction from various TV markets. I can see the Raiders relocating to the UK following the Rams move back to LA...

Well I've always been a bit of a Broncos fan from when I was a kid. Back to the John Elway era. Used to support the 49ers as well. I still have a soft spot for both those teams.

I love the John Elway era...same with Joe Montana & Jerry Rice, I really couldn't name many players nowadays but I often watch the likes of Walter Payton or Joe Theisman on YouTube

Yes Montana/Rice that was what I grew up with. I don't follow it as religiously as I did when I was a kid but I still love it. I've got hundreds of books and videos/dvds. I used to be totally obsessed. In fact I wish I was growing up with it in this era now. The coverage is so much better than what it used to be. All we used to get was a few hours a week on Channel 4.

Although I think Raiders is possible as NFL said they'll get favourable treatment on a future move its a well known secret its more likely to be the Jags who play here every year.

Personally I'm not bothered by a london franchise in terms of supporting it, Im a Steelers fan and that won't change especially as I'm not a Londoner but more opportunities to attend games is welcomed.

My interest started when 'World of Sport' showed a 5 - 10 minute highlight of the Superbowl in the late 70's, slotted in just before the wrestling !!

Been a Packers fan for years ...

In order for the Superbowl -

Manning for a second ring, so he can retire ...

Newton, to silence some of his doubters ...

Palmer, because Brady has done enough ...

As for a London franchise ... have they not seen how many fans of different teams show up at IS games ...

I think it will be difficult to get home team support ...

And will we tire of 8 home games ?

I think 3 works well ...

Reading to London isn't bad on a Sunday and 8 times a year. Especially since you're going to be there for a good 3 or 4 hours

I'm watching the kick-off times with interest as this will make a difference as to whether I would attend all 8 games once the inevitable franchise is here. With the Giants v Rams kick-off being 12noon we are looking at travelling down on the Saturday, see London then hotel overnight so we can be at the fan rally early. I can't see us doing that 8 times a year due to the cost.

Yeah I understand, I think there are more fans that are inclined to make it a once a year trip. But also there are fans like me that won't go once a year but would go 8 times. Whether there are enough of us to sell out Wembley 8 times a year remains to be seen, but we live in hope

the way that the expansion is going wembley wont need to host 8 "london nfl" team games a year.....

the NFL have an agreement at the moment with Wembley for 3 games a year.... plus the new Tottenham stadium for 2 games..... plus twickenham for 1 game........

the time of the games suit the nfl.... the 9.30am ET starts gives the NFL 3 football game windows on the sunday.....

they would need either the BBC or Channel 4 to show all the home games "free to air"... which actually the NFL could pay the BBC to do.... SKY would have to show the 8 away games (which means there choice of games on a sunday would be reduced)

I think the biggest question would everyone get behind just the one NFL team... where at the moment you see all the different teams represented at the wembley games

Whilst in the US working I went to a couple of American Footy games and didn't enjoy them. Stop start and too much theatre!

dont know of any other game that allows you to have a complete change of team dependent on which way you are running but it's spawn from America so it will be odd!

Lol - that's exactly why I like it! It enables a greater exploitation of tactics and specialisation than other sports.

If you have to pick the same team to play for 90 minutes then your tactics have to account for what you expect to happen over a long period of play. American football is like chess where you can have tactics specific to a 4 second window!

In their last game Aaron Rodgers made the downs when he was 4th and 20 inside the 2 minute mark! Not only did he make the downs but, with time running out, he threw for 60 yards leaving enough time for 1 hail mary, which they got to force over time!

Do you know the probability of that happening and the level of skill it takes?!

so in English that is a guy throw the ball back to another guy who then chucked it 60 yards to another guy who had to catch it?

No you silly sausage!

A guy throw the ball back to another guy who then chucked it 60 yards to another guy who had to catch it AND then they did the same thing again for another 38 yards to tie the game.

Think of it as a soccer goalkeeper scoring from a goalkick, twice in a row.

It's a development of rugby football from Rugby school. If it's odd then it must mean that rugby football is odd. There are lots of sports/games/pastimes that started out as something else but just because the US came up with their own version of rugby football doesn't make it odd or a spawn.

My heart would love a Broncos victory, with Peyton back to his old self securing a win in his last ever game in the NFL. But that ain't gonna happen.

Patriots through from the AFC, and I'd love to see them against the Panthers in the Superbowl. Cam Newton's finally becoming the quarterback that he's always threatened to become, but whether they've got the breadth of offensive talent, esp at WR and RB, to beat the Patriots is questionable.

Hope it'll be a good game whoever gets through, and at least the Seahawks didn't sneak through again, which is good.

Cheating is when you break the rules of a sport, for example illegally filming the play calling of another team before a superbowl, using performance enhancing drugs, deliberately deflating balls to make a passing game easier in the weather and ensuring your oppositions headsets don't work properly when they visit your stadium.

Chief, you jumped in there without knowing the facts or the rules of the game. Each team uses their own balls on offense - the only time one team gets to handle the other team's ball is on a turnover ie an interception or a fumble. Only the team that deflates the ball gets the advantage.

If you have played the game, which you seem to be inferring, then I'm surprised that you don't know that.

Yes, took my first snap in 1985 and have been on both O & D. Have played for significant teams in the UK and absolutely love the game. Was the ball being under-deflated by 1lb enough to make a difference then no. The officials touch the ball more than any player and none of them threw a flag..now if you're saying that the officials are in on the conspiracy then that's a completely different matter.

If he played the game it would unlikely have been for an NFL team. Brit teams don't have the luxury of the use of so many balls.

I also doubt many knew about NFL teams using their own balls until that incident kicked off. I certainly didn't and I've been following the NFL since before the Channel 4 days.

Who handles both sets of balls the most? This conversation is so appropriate for fab! If the officials (who handle both sets of balls) felt a difference between the teams balls they would've flagged it. It wasn't a big enough advantage and having played over 100 games I can validate my comment.

"If the officials (who handle both sets of balls) felt a difference between the teams balls they would've flagged it."

Would they though? It's a pretty unique way of cheating, even for the Pats, easy to miss.

What about the other deliberate accidents / misunderstandings the Pats have been involved with since 2007?

If you gave me two balls to handle I'd be able to tell which one was under inflated! seriously though its fairly obvious when a game ball is not pumped up enough and for the officials to 'miss' this suggests a conspiracy...and the NFL haven't been able to officially prove that the patriots cheated.

" Could you post a link to it? I'm actually interested..."

Then you Sir, are a true football nerd. It was a long post, and I wrote it directly into a form and not in Word, so didn't save it.

Verrrrry simplified, Seahawks were 2nd and goal with (if i recall) around 20 seconds left and one timeout remaining.

Pats defence was set up for the run, everyone was expecting the run. And yeah, it was Marshawn Lynch, but even that wasn't a guarantee of scoring.

Run, and fail, and you have to call a timeout. Then there's 10 secs or less left on the clock, no timeouts, so you HAVE TO throw on third down if you want to have a chance of 4th down. If you run on 3rd, then it's your last play, all or nothing.

However, back to second down. Pats defence is set for the run, whole world is expecting the run. So you throw. Complete, and you've won the Superbowl. Incomplete, and no sweat. You've lost three seconds off the clock, still got your timeout, still got time for two more run plays if necessary.

It was a percentage play, and tactically the only choice. The only risk was getting intercepted, but was a risk worth taking to get three bites at the cherry. Lynch carrying would still have risked a fumble with the same result.

It was the right call. And anyone who says it wasn't should be drenched in Gatorade.

But the reason the whole world is expecting the run is because it's the best bet! Just because someone knows it's coming, doesn't mean they can do much about it!

The problem with passing so close to goal is that the DB's and safety's aren't sat back very far so you're statistically more likely to be intercepted then elsewhere on the pitch where they have to potentially defend deep throws.

Sorry, but you're looking at it from a fan's point of view, and not a coach's. The more chances you have to make a play, the more chance you have to make it (if that makes sense). As I said, it's a percentage play. Three chances versus two chances.

And Lynch is not a sure shot, even from that distance. In fact (and I can't be bothered to dig out the exact stats at this late hour) he has a pretty crappy record from a yard out, one of the poorest among current RBs.

And interceptions are not more likely from that distance, because you've got less reaction time. In fact (and I had to go to the stats after all) the Pats defence faced 165 downs from the 1 yard line between 2000-2015. Only four resulted in interceptions, including the one in the Superbowl. The most like outcome, statistically, would have been an incomplete or a deflection, resulting in the scenario in the previous post.

Too late to argue, but you (and most of the world) are wrong on this and he was right.

Love the stats from tonight's game - new englands leading rusher... Tom Brady with a whopping 13 yards. That's both a tribute to just how good his passing is but also a really one dimensional team!
