Does freedom of speech mean exactly that or is it a myth? Is it easy to speak freely?

With the right to freedom of speech, also comes the responsibility to not always use it!

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I don't think there is a legal right to free speech in the UK. Just don't be a dick.

"Does freedom of speech mean exactly that or is it a myth? Is it easy to speak freely? "

It is easy to speak freely if you are not offensive.

Yes. Freedom of speech means just that. Our society has limited free speech to avoid offence and incitement. Depending on your view, that may be a good or bad thing. What do you think?

Yeah here's the thing,,,,,

If I got right in your face and called your Granny a C**t.......

I wouldn't be surprised to get a smack in the mouth in return..... no matter how much I tried to defended my right to free speech.....

I think some people can tell the truth in a positive way that is not offensive in anyway and someone will call then a bigot, racist, sexist or a twat its interpretation.

with freedom of speech comes responsibility..

some seem to blame what they perceive as

the lack of 'freedom of speech' rather than think that what they are wanting to say may be offensive, inflammatory etc..

and that its always the fault of other's eg. the 'pc brigade', do gooders etc but not themselves..

hey ho..

Grannies do those sort of things to each-other,,,,.....

They prefer beating-up younger generations...

That is not really an answer to my question. Do you think that freedom of speech should be limited?

As long as people exercising that right don't force me to listen. It only bothers me when it is shoved down my throat. If I can walk away it is all good.

personal responsibility seems with some to be irrelevant or ignored so government will set the boundaries, however there will always be an argument as to what level they are set at, what's acceptable etc..

used to tell staff to leave their opinions outside of the workplace if they were offensive (as per the employers guidelines)..

having a 'free for all' where anyone can say anything to anyone only leads to chaos..
