I've just broken something under the sink. Water is everywhere. I need a plumber. Any in or around ipswich/stow who want to help a damsel in distress? Got no money and cant pay in kind. Kids are home.
This will teach me to think I can be a strong independent woman! Fucking useless!

I was trying to find a stop cock...not knowing exactly what one looked like, I turned a red handle. Handle came off in my hand. Water started squirting everywhere.
My plan was to replace the shower mixer bars. Hmm..
I will do this.
Every mistake is a learning experience! Be positive. Etc etc.... Just try not to cry lol |

It is possible to shut the valve off using a pair of pliers or a shifting spanner, but it sounds as though you've ripped the valve off the pipe? The lever breaking off won't make it leak, just a little harder to shut off. |

Shutting a valve off under the sink will only shut the water supplying the sink, not the shower, depending on how the plumbing was installed, do you have a supply tank in stalled or is the shower fed directly from the boiler? Too many variables to work with. |

Dad couldn't fix it either. Said it was the strangest fault he'd ever seen. Bf is driving down to look in the morning.
Stupid thing is, it took me 5 mins to change the mixer bars in the two showers. It will have taken about 16 hours to sort out turning the water off!
Thank you all for trying to help me. X |
