Terror,shock,scandal,outrage....
Everyday the media uses emotive language to add drama to what is quite often a rather mundane story.
How about you?do you play it down or throw in the emotive stuff...I'm shocked,I'm terrified... |

I use evocative and engaging language at work as I need to be persuasive. I also use buzz words that are specific to clients, to copy them.
I don't apply this in my personal life as it's unnecessary, and mirroring can be creepy. |

"I'm an American. So, yeah.
-Courtney "
Oh it's not an Americanism. ..it's used more and more these days by so many folk...kind of spoils the excitement of a real good story being told these days ! |

The use of language evocatively is great and makes for interesting conversation. |

As soon as I hear emotive language I assume the person making it doesn't have a point strong enough to stand on its own logic.
Hence why I contest that Obama is a good speaker, if you read a transcript of his speeches they are usually drivel. |

"usually for dramatic effect, similar to on here.
it stimulates a reaction"
Stimulates or provokes reaction? And is it a healthy reaction? It invokes emotion as opposed to objective logical responses, which can be dangerous. |
