This may be a stupid question...but isn't Essex quite near Hertfordshire anyway?

Don't be selfish, he needs to get away from his ex, nothing to do with you

I don't know the circumstances but surely someone can be upset with a situation without be selfish.

If she had tried to get him to stay with his gf so he would be local, that would be selfish...

Central

Having known him so long I can imagine being shaken if he just has to up and go, as well as the prospect of spending less time and being intimately close as he's gone or going.

I'm just wondering whether there will be messages headed your way Ruby, from guys eager to take his place.

I never realised there was a Northern version of "It's all the same once you get passed Watford Gap" - sort of "It's awl Larrrdan, innit? Chim, chimenny"

And to think of the trouble I'd be in were I to muddle a Geordie with a Mackem (or worse yet - a Smoggie )

Mr ddc

You're not far wrong, all the Home Counties are basically the same place.

Certainly everyone inside the M25 is a Cockney, (as I manage to slip into every conversation with the mother-in-law just to wind her up )

Meanwhile, sorry OP, didn't mean to hijack

Eh no, it does seem selfish, its about her being gutted about her friend that's getting away from an ex who hit him, if she wanted him to stay with her it would be crazy and not selfish
