Stoke area

Sorry I haven't had this op. I can tell you that any lap. operation can be very painful due to trapped air in your abdominal cavity. After a Lap Cholecystectomy ( gall bladder ) , I felt like a had been run over by a HGV. Don't think of it as an easier option than the traditional route. See what your consultant advises when you discuss it.

sorry to here that. Ive been on daily meds for years which definantly help added with life style. Think a weeks worth of pain maybe better than popping a pill every day and feeling ill every morning. I lost my second uncle last year too after his turned cancerous all be it in his late 70's went down hill very quickly and they wouldnt operate.

Had it done in November. Not too many problems apart from a bit of post op pain which Tramadol helped with. It is taking time to get back onto a normal diet but that's not doing any harm.

It wasn't fun but well worth it.

I've only ever had laps for gynae ops - 3 cuts in bikini line area & 1 in belly button.

They blow your belly up until you look 9 months pregnant & it slowly releases itself through your body - my trapped air seems to like coming out of my left shoulder & I'm told by my dad I look like when my nan was having a stroke.

Well worth it though just lots of pain relief & a week or 2 off work after with no heavy lifting

I had nearly two years of tests, cameras, barium, oesophageal dilation, eventually I was having to take food out of diet almost daily as I either couldn't swallow or choked on it, when I managed to get onto a waiting list for a surgeon out of the area (an hour away) had surgery November.

I took a good amount of time off work to recover, the initial surgery pain was pretty much gone in a couple of weeks.

I still have to take it easy with food, very much drinks and soups, but it's still very early days, and I've managed to kick start weight loss.

I don't know if it's the same for everyone, but I was told that in my case I would feel like I'd had a gastric band.

If you fancy a chat about it feel free to PM me...

Thank goodness that I have a high gag reaction so as soon as I had that horrible tooth guard put and I started to retch, they knocked me clean out!
