Who would have known it be so hard to job search whilst looking to relocate.
Looking at moving to Wales in the near future, had to have someone look into my current contract as my MD thinks i should give a weeks notice for every year...9 years, well found out its 4 weeks notice.
Emailed my cv and covering letter to a few companies,to have an email asking if im looking at relocating as the position is in Wales...yes that is why i have put this on my covering letter.
Not sure how to help my hunt...any advice welcome x |

I had to look for jobs while moving from the US to Leeds. It was a nightmare.
I don't really have any tips for you. I just got really good at filling out job applications. I had very organized folders with various versions of answers to standard questions in my field. My CV was tailored to each aplication. It worked out in the end.
Good luck!!

When I relocated from Birmingham to London it soon became apparent that the easiest way was to relocate and jobhunt then. Employers were reluctant to take a gamble appointing someone who may not relocate quick enough or even at all. I was fortunate I had somewhere to stay and could afford a fair few weeks without an income |

My only experience was moving from London to Chesterfield but I was lucky enough that my workplace pretty much allowed me to tell them I was moving a few weeks in advance and then said I could leave once I had found another job.
I tried to schedule interviews for around the same time and used some days annual leave to travel up there (luckily I had someone I could stay with).
It took a while and was a pain in the arse.
Some companies are willing to conduct interviews over Skype, which may help.
Or you could always put an introductory video on YouTube so potential employers can get a feel for you and include a link in your covering letter... (extreme tactics, maybe, but you never know! |
