Just back from a slow wander through the woods and knackered. I would love to lose a couple of stone but even the thought of going to the gym brings me out in a sweat. I eat quite healthily but do love my beer. Starting on the avocados tomorrow and hoping to kick start.
Any good advice without costing a fortune? |

Re_iew your diet, cut out the beer, start walking every day and slowly progress. Go swimming. Go cycling. Walk up and down your stairs 20 times a day, start stretching exercises. Drink a glass of water before meals. Use a smaller plate. Portion control. Calorie intake. Healthy alternatives. |

Build up your stamina.
Do exercise that makes you out of breathe and when you get tired continue exercizing but more slowly. So say you ran for 10 mins, walk for 5 more when tired.
Pay for a gym once you feel able to go almost every day and it's gonna be of use to you otherwise you're wasting money and probably gonna fail because you're moving ahead of yourself exercise wise.

"Is drinking gin & slimline tonic ok or a whisky, "
All alcohol is 'empty' calories. But gin and slimline is better, whiskey depends on whether you use a mixer or not. Straight or with water is good. |

There are lots of short workouts on YouTube that are free. By short I mean 10 mins of less. Good place to start as most you need no equipment so can be done in the comfort of your own home. Search for HIIT as this seems the latest 'hit' |

You say you eat healthily but what are you eating? Avocados might have goodness in them but their quite high in calories if you just add an avacado a day you would put on about 1lb a week. Same as nuts habe goodness in them but high calories.
You don't have to cut out anything if you don't want just have it in moderation.
I'd say for one week write down e ery single thing that passes your lips then at the end of the week you can look back and see what you are doing wrong.
The more walking you do the fitter you will get |

I wouldn't recommend he does any HIT until he built up his basic level of fitness, and stay clear of it if your struggling with walking at the moment. Better to build up slowly with walking and then gentle jog later on. |

Ditch the beer for a start, empty calories. 180 calories on average per pint, if you drank 5 pints that is almost half the average persons daily calorie allowance.
Use an app like Myfitnesspal to log everything you eat, it's quite shocking when you realise
Walking is good exercise if you don't want to go to the gym. I do a mixture of long slow duration cardio, hiit, weighted and bodyweight circuits and lifting weights 5 days a week, I love it.

Good advise, I monitor my heart rate with my fitbit and can be at peak rate for 5 minutes during circuits or hiit which I can't imagine would be healthy for a beginner. It's important to have the stamina to bring the HR down slowly after going hell for leather.
Brisk walking to get the heart working to build stamina first would be better if they struggle with walking.
Saying that, my breathing can be awful as I have a bad habit of holding my breath at times |

"No point in adding avocados to your existing diet.
Eat less and move more. "
This! Losing a bit of weight initially will make the scary exercise less hard work. Don't get me wrong, it'll still tire you out, but that's the point!
Start slowly and don't weigh yourself every day as you'll get demotivated easily by your bodies natural fluctuations.
And definitely get shot of the beer!

"Have started drinking non alcoholic beer but G&T with slimline could be an option.
Need to find something non alcoholic that I like to drink."
Non-alcoholic beer isn't that better calorie wise.
Try the tonic on it's own. Tesco sell lots of different ones - cucumber, jasmine, elderflower I think & they are great. Freeze slices of lemon & lime to add to it |

Search for 'Scooby' on YouTube. He's your go-to guy. He knows his stuff. Great for beginners. Tells you all you need to know. He was the very first youtuber to upload a health/fitness channel in the early internet days. Everybody else followed him. |

Last june I was 38/40 inch waist and now I'm about 33inch.
I realised I was unfit and I wanted to get in shape. I started by buying a heavy bag and sparred on it for about 12 rounds a day. I was also walking a lot and eating less. I cut out all snacks, and shit food.
In July I joined the gym and I was given a plan to follow. I have been doing that and have lost loads of weight and gained muscle.
I'm a lot fitter in myself and really enjoy going.
At first I hated the thought of going gym, but now I really look forward to it!
You can do it! As Shannon Briggs says 'Let's Go Champ'! |
