Anyone find this completely pointless?
After checking out the nominations, I noticed that most of the awards are going to movies I can't be bothered watching. Does anyone else think the awards seem to be going to the most boring films?
I have a theory that the most important oscars only seem to go to movies based on true events, novels or any boring film while the least important oscars go to movies that are the most entertaining and are big in the box office |

No, I love seeing British people being recognised on the world stage.
be it Grammy's, Oscars, Globes, Olympics
It's great to see others achieve and be an influence on others to do well. |

Platoon
Godfather
Unforgiven
American sniper
Patton
There just the ones I can think of off the top of my head!.
I think you'll find there's been dozens of big hits that one best Oscar.
Ooo just thought of another

I agree with you that these list of movies you mentioned won great Oscars in the past as they are pretty entertaining movies.
What I meant was that the oscars isn't what it used to be. Movies in the past won good Oscars whilst being entertaining. The oscars today just seem to be going to the most boring of films that have little entertainment |

Given the choice of watching the Oscars or an award ceremony recognising the efforts of unsung hero's who operate unselfishly throughout our society without need of reward or measures of special praise ......
I know which one I'd pick... |

Yeah, awards do go to shite films sometimes, that are just totally slow with no particular story.
To me I always think the best picture winner should also be the best director winner.
This year I hope dicaprio gets the Oscar, and having watched the other films I do feel 'The Revenant ' should win best picture, but it probably won't.
