For £10. It's quietish, but this upgrade to first class is devoid of a hot cuppa - tea or coffee - on this Euston to Brum special.
I got 2 fingers off the guy, peddling kit Kat, who should have been making a brew. Politely smiled and begged for some hot tea.
Snack pack also includes 2 crackers (no jokes or snap) a mysterious cream cheese and a salt and oil cracker for cheese - found after scoffing the cheese. Plus a nasty pepper spread.
How the other half lives. We left at 6pm and still no hot drink! |

"I got put in first class once.. No seats and the ticket guy didn't want me standing because I'm on crutches so he moved me to first class.. Was proper excited by the lamps on the tables "
The lamps today have a hint of art deco inspiration. Nicer than the fluorescent above.
Smiling virgin guy is bringing hot drinks now |

"East Coast used to do pretty good First Class. Hoping now it's Virgin it doesn't go downhill because I'm on again in a few weeks..."
I'm so annoyed I didn't ride it when it was publicly owned and operated.
The virgins weekend first class is trimmed down from the midweek ride. Morning pastries, fruit and drinks earlier in the day. Later inclusive stuff is the snack box, hot and cold drinks, as I itemized above. I think I had sandwiches last trip.
For a longer trip then just a couple of hot drinks at their price almost pays for itself. Bigger seats, quieter, it's an ok deal. |

I'll be in Brum in a few mins, hardly time for tea. Pendolino I think it is.
Anybody needing a used virgin ride onboard, my tired legs are now re-energized in the quieter coach. Or haul me off in the west midlands. |
