"Depends who how and when
"
This. All sorts of reasons. Possibly a little of those suggested in the OP on occasion. Often not. Without knowing every single poster well, the day they've had or their personal circumstances at that moment it's impossible to tell. |

I sometimes like to show myself, Sometimes I can be a exhibitionist and depending how my day/week or even year has gone I can have low self esteem,
But mostly it's just for fun |

I posted a re_iew my profile.was genuinely asking for advice, took the advice on-board and rewrote it.Although the grammar police will still not be happy I guess lol,oh well.
Still not got round to posting new pics yet though.
A bit hard to kinda group all the "look at me" requests in one category,as it could be for any number of reasons. |

"Ohh just be tolerant , who cares if they want attention sometimes you just DO.
"
Yeah...and isn't that why everyone is on here...for attention. Some get it in different ways...some get what they are looking for on here others need to find other ways. It's just fun. Enjoy and enjoy it that others are getting it too. Best way all round. |

Only kidding, there are lots of reasons people start those kind of threads I guess. Just a bit of fun though I like to think "
I hope no one looked at me
Was just interested in different thoughts - that's all. |

I dunno, lots of people put pictures up because they like them being looked at. I think these threads are a way of them being looked at. Fabs are indicative of them being looked at and liked. Makes sense to me on a sex site.
On a related note, I am very interested by the post-modern nature of the forums. Does anyone know why they are so? I find it fascinating.

O gosh. Did I misunderstand something in the OP?
That will teach me to comment without reading the entire thread.

Yeah, well, post-modern is a whole school of thought, but in this context I was referring to "death of the author" theory. If you Google that you should have better luck.
I just find it interesting that the forum seems so interested in analysing itself. The act of reading author intentions into a thread when interpreting the thread. It seems to happen quite a bit. A form of self reflection with author attributions. It's really interesting here.

Thank you. I'll do that.
I've noticed that too but wouldn't have been able to express it as well as you . No idea why it happens though. |

I am not post modern.
I post because I feel like it- no reason other than to get a reaction/interaction.
For fun. And attention- yes!
I am a needy insecure attention whore

Most people including myself who post or begin threads have a degree of look at me . You started the thread so you tell us are you arrogant or so low in attention and esteem you feel you need your words to be scrutinised?
To break your false dichotomy sometimes I just need to shout xx |

Def. Not arrogant and have enough attention and esteem. Just get curious and like to observe. |

I don't post to attract attention. To me it's conversing with people. |

not liking the brazen look at me statuses and threads - the ones where people beg for folk to fab their pics but even those can be fun to read - and some pics are very perv worthy but thats as far as we go with those - dont think they are all to do with low self esteem - fab is mostly an advert for yourselves and people choose to show themselves in many ways - nothing more or less |

Depends on the thread and the person - all of the above I think!
Isn't this a market place to sell yourself? Most people most days are here to promote themselves and why not?
Me? I just like a bit of banter - I've not been one who's been flirted with throughout my life so it's nice on here now and then, even though I know it's not 'real' and all a bit of a game really. |

A combination of all of the things mentioned in your OP I would think.
Fabs gives people the platform to share a side of them that maybe reality doesn't. |
