As Valentines isn't a million miles away, what would your ideal date/day out be?

Whats yours OP?

Me? Something traditional on a warm, sunny Spring or Summers day - a visit to a nice city, eg Oxford, Warwick or Bath, a walk through a park, picnic by a lake or river, something a little bit fun to have a giggle over like a round of crazy golf (there's an excellent one in the centre of Bath) then a nice wine and dinner with some excellent company ..

A day to get to know each other rather than something like a cinema visit where the focus is on the film not each other.

I've never had a proper date! previous partners have always been friends first and it's sort of happened by accident.

But something outdoors, definitely. A picnic and a walk maybe? Or even something a bit more exciting. My friend took a girl to a high opens course for a first date. That's quite cool

It's a rip off going out or going away for valentines day .Best to go away before or after .It's not good being forced to be romantic just cause it's valentines day . Should be romantic gestures or naughty ones throughout the year .

I agree with this. It's such a rip off going out on valentines day. We stopped years ago. We make a point of staying home and making each other dinner on that day.

However, we do do a belated valentines day (on a different day to avoid the price increases). Last year it was an overnight stay in Dover castle. Was amazing. This year I'm going to look at the English Heritage sites around us and go to one. They have special events near valentines day and they don't cost any extra for members, usually. We'll follow it up with a cozy dinner and drinks at a country pub.

I love to see old buildings they have a charm always worth a visit and there is always some Form of history Involved, which can sometimes play a part today.

For me? Dinner in a decent restaurant or gastro-pub and theatre with a great looking but fun and intelligent guy!

Then back to a hotel to do all the rude things we were REALLY thinking about when we chatted over dinner!

My birthday is Valentine's Day, I haven't had a date on these days for years! Will be interesting to see how it pans out this year.

Going back to the question. A nice walk along the beach, watching the sunset, lil fire, toasting marshmallows a glass of fizz all sounds lovely.

A nice walk together in sunny but cold weather. Could be a park, the beach, up a hill or round a nice part of town. Chattering, people watching etc in our own little bubble. Followed by a nice spot of lunch in a cozy pub or something. See, even cynical me can be a bit of a softie at heart (but ssshhhhhh, it's a secret).
