"Congratulations courtney. Tell me is the UK as you visualised it was going to be? What was the hardest thing you had to adapt to?
"
No, the UK isn't quite how I envisioned it. Better in some ways, worse in others. I think I was ridiculous, though. I thought everything would be very old and historical and I'd be living in a fairy tale or something. Typical American!
The hardest thing to adapt to? Probably working less than I did in the US. People got annoyed at me for sending emails on the weekend. So it took me a while to learn to stop.

-Courtney " I had a friend who!came from a little island near Belize, she !married a British soldier and moved over and she thought it was going to be full of fairytale stuff and castles as well. Odd as its not something I'd associate the UK with

I suppose it's the same with America I had rose tinted glasses on when I went out there and thought it would be this big glamorous country....I was wrong I was stuck on an army base welcome to England |

English guys are great, but we did meet a Scottish guy while we were up there and, yeah, it was worth the trip Still haven't met any Welsh guys, though. I need to fix that |

Come on admit it.... You thought Leeds was a borough of London!.
How long did it take you to learn the dialect and how many times did you say... What!! Before giving up and feigning a laugh. Hahaha |

Glad you've had such a good time while you've been here and the natives have made you welcome.
Will there be a celebratory apple cake? |

Congrats OP. Do you think you'll ever move back?
I'm not trying to get rid of you! Genuinely interested as it seems difficult with the US tax/ health system. |

Our families still think we live in London. We've given up correcting them. |

"Congratulations.
Do you prefer life here or in NY?"
They both have their upsides and downsides. I could honestly live in either for the rest of my life. |

Sure you're not trying to get rid of me
Yeah we will probably go back at some point. Filing taxes in the US while living here is a ball buster. But really its just a hassle doing all the visa nonsense here too |

I dunno if you're aware, but I read that if you earned less than $62k in 2015, you're eligible to prepare and e-file both your federal and state returns for free. And they give you efile software for free.
It may not even apply to non residents, so it may be a waste of time looking into it. |

Thanks!
Luckily Marc's dad does our taxes for free so it's all good. But thanks for the advice |
