Do you think what they do to help them is right, give food and shelter? It was on the inside out program now on bbc1, they said its getting worse since they started with the hand outs and the camp is growing by size. I would say it is counter productive.

I would still have them there and no I wouldn't withdraw food and shelter but it would be very minimal resources so it doesn't look tempting to stay for long you know.

Yes I understand what you mean.

What do you think of Denmark's rules on refugees? They're not allowing them more than £1000.00 worth of possessions.

It does not look like a tempting place to stay to me. I don't think people will be booking holidays there, do you?

You are right there and I don't think either they would want to book a 2 week holiday there.

Interogate them and send back the scum. There are poor sods who helped us out in Afghan amongst them who have been forgotten by our "grateful" government. Help the needy only.

Australia was faced with a similar migrant problem several years ago.

They reacted firmly and swiftly. Any migrants who attempt to reach Australia by any means other than official channels are given 2 choices.

They can either go back to where they came from, or they can wait in an internment camp on some Pacific Island they have sovereignty over, whilst their application is processed.

In a matter of months, this reduced the flood to a trickle.

The camps aren't in asutralian territory they're rented out like guantanimo.

Theyre also horrific places full of human rights abuses.

If they were in Australian sovereign land there would be a lot of Australian officials in court/jail over them

They are needy! Have you been there? I pass it regularly. They're not there for the Yellowcoats evening cabaret show and cheap warm lager. These PEOPLE are truly fucking desperate.

I agree with your poor sods remark, similar to the Ghurkas situation. 'Scum' for those at Calais however. Pretty juvenile and ill thought.

Am I the only one who chuckles at the irony when people hold up Australia as a shining example of how to manage immigration?!!

The immigration problem around the world is startling. What is the answer, really? I see a lot of people who spout opinions about individual cases and examples without addressing the root causes of such problems. If all we do as a society is try to fix the cracks in the walls without looking at the foundation those walls are built on, then the cracks will keep appearing, but in different places.

no,youre not, they have a heinous record on immigration....and as for the camp, i fail to see how children walking about freezing in summer clothes, ankle deep in shit and mud could be described by anyone as 'tempting'!

Would Australia's tough passport control work in Europe as well?

Let em all in.

It's working out great in cologne and Stuttgart and Bonn and hanover and Copenhagen and Stockholm!

Should work out just the same here!

Either that or we can just keep on paying 4 billon a year to Turkey or whatever figure the Turks dream up next

Disparity in wealth and human rights standards between developed states and developing states is the cause of all of this. Improve the standards and prospects in the source state, and people will have little reason to move.
