glasgow

Personally i love fab, been on it for a long ass time, and yeh there are fakes weirdos and timewasters, surely tho if u are sensible enough its easy to these people out, no ? Plus i defo think the nice lush genuine people (when u find them) make up for the bad.

Anyhoooo... Recently iv noticed so many negative and angry stats, even from people i know in 'real life', plus been chatting to some peeps who are all friendly and nice then suddenly seem to go insane ! Its like the 'pressure' of the site gets to them. Which is a shame really, i cant understand why anyone would invest so much energy and get so upset. Its all meant to be fun. So does fab bring out the worst in people ? It certainly seems so, well to me anyway.

Ponder ponder

Sometimes..friendly banter can turn to open warfare very quickly in the forum

No, I think horrible people will be horrible however they choose to interact.

It's online in general

We can act and say what we want without any consequences behind a keyboard

No I thjnk the angry people were already angry, the bitchy people were already bitchy and the insecure people were already insecure. If they weren't putting ranty statuses on here it would be on Facebook about something else. They probably do have them on Facebook aswell

Back where I belong

I've always said you need a thick skin and a sense of humour to be on here and the ability to take rejection xx

It depends on the person , some times true colures do show though. Though they can be a delightful surprise or occasionally a bit of a let down

I must admit my experience of people in the forums is jolly positive good friends

I guess if you're up tight and humpy and grumpy in real life, then you'll likely be like it on here too......!

I think it brings out my naughty side. Other than that I am pretty much the everyday me on here.

Its all down to unrealistic expectations in my opinion.

I have spent all my working life in IT.

What are mild friendly people in everyday life easily become monsters behind a keyboard!

The number of times I have been involved in cyber bullying cases, where I have helped track them down (for prosecution), only to find a person that you would often just not expect.

I think it's a bit like when teenagers get a car(especially the lads). They seem to think that the eggshell thick metal the car is made off has a 'force field' that stops them getting hurt.

Same with the Internet. People think they are invulnerable and cannot be traced. WRONG!!

Usually a reflection of the iceberg of issues inside too.

It's not just fab but everywhere that allows peoples views/opinions online (although rejection and desperation does bring out the arsehole in people on here)

Speaking as someone that has pissed off a fair few people with my views/opinions, I would say that 'some people' will cry and bring attention towards themselves at just about anything.

Personally I don't really give a fuck about what people I'll never meet say about me, so I speak my mind

I've only been using the forums for a short while and generally the members seem friendly enough. In that short time I've noticed the same individuals who are involved in most of the nastiness.

You're blaming the technology - which is emotionless, it's not living nor does it have morals - it's how humans use it.

But I would say social media per se tends towards creating conservative group-think, where hysterias and feeding frenzies can turn on a sixpence.

I find it very odd.

I don't think it exclusive to this place.

Post festive blues maybe? I've had that as an excuse. The same goes for selective readers. Do they realise why there is certain info on a profile? It's definitely not just for ignoring.

If someone talked to me in a pub the way some first messages read... knee in groin would be the least to be expected

I think the internet can allow someone to develop their harsher side, fab included.

I don't and won't argue here, merely state my point. And I won't insult others - I may warn them if I find their approach offensive etc.

Maybe sexual tension helps the less pleasant aspect develop, coupled with internet anonymity.
