I do all fishing, i started on canals then moved onto poles, then slowly progressed onto feeder and carp, the problem in somerset with the canals though is the otters, but i like to get away for a weekend to chill rest. I do love the tench though |

"I fish but I do it properly in matches. No chucking a bait out and putting it on a bite alarm while I get my head down here. That ain't fishing. "
we both fish, seen enough dammaged fish with no lips from many a match fisherman, not easy to fish the river Severn with a pole |

"The relaxing part sounds good but I don't like fishing for the sake of it.
It's ok if you need to eat it but just to torture them is horrible."
without fishing in this country and the licence fee paid by people who fish, our river system would be dreadful, basically like the canal system 100 years ago, devoid of life |

The fish are ok mostly unscathed, if anglers take proper care like they usually do they live for decades, tea as a tipple thats a big no no lol, i like a bottle of dow's port with some nice real ale or on a warm day a descent cider.

The last fish I caught was in someone's living room when I was out helping people who had been flooded! Poor thing was still alive.

Town stretch behind pound stretcher. Wagglers set at about 4 foot and 3 pints of maggots. Cast and spray cast and spray. You'll bag up on chub and dace all day. |

The Garden of Eden in Beautiful North Wales |
I used to go fishing as a kid on the river Dee in Erbistock and loved it, especially night fishing. We'd build a little camp fire, take a few bottles of homebrew each and have a great time. We respected the rules and didn't cause any damage, tidied up after ourselves and left everything as we found it...
I'd love to try a bit of sea fishing, that's something I've never done. |

Fishing for fun. That peculiarly British activity. I just don't get it. Sorry.
I mean, who wants to sit beside a litter strewn body of water in drizzle, fog or darkness in pursuit of poor fish who have their days rudely interrupted by people who just throw them back into the water after piercing their tender parts.
It's nearly as pointless as golf asks football.
I'll get my coat.

Every adult should pay for a licence ,its about £30,fishing is the biggest participant sport in this country, the environment agency would not exist without those people, then there would be no one to stop industry polluting our water ways, thats without the membership fees, most clubs stock their waters with fish, without fish the whole eco system would
fail,no kingfishers,no otters |
