When we chat to other couple's we are not the type who say hi how are you ?,

We usually write a short novel when chatting lol, so do you prefer those who contact you can hold a conversation rather than a few short words ?

I tend to play it the way I would if I was to approach someone in a pub or club, start of with a hi how are and a basic introduction then depending on the response take it from there. I don't really understand the profiles that say hi how are you get no reply, surely that's what's know as an ice breaker lol

I agree.. A too-long first message can come across as being too intense. A short ice-breaker is good and if they've got a bit of detail about you from your profile, and they like you, they'll respond (hopefully) and then you can get into longer conversational messages..

Conversation all the way Just gets frustrating when its just 1 or 2 words.

Mentioning something from the profile is always good and gets the attention as it means you've taken the time to read. I've seen a lot of 'suk me now' first messages which safe to say don't get very far x

Depends on who it is. If I'm on my phone I can't be bothered to tap out long mails. Couple of sentences are fine.

I like to say hi how are you as an ice breaker . At least when its short and to the point your not getting your head baffled or waffled with potential lies and half hearted promises right ?

This. Just looks like they can't be arsed and trying to have a conversation with the 2 or 3 word repliers is often like trying to get blood out of a stone.

I'm not the best for chatting online. I'm generally on my phone which can be a faff and if I'm interested in meeting then I want to meet not chat!

Thing is that in person I'm very chatty, just not online.

It's okay when you have a hangover.
