I know the subjects been done to death....winks.
I used to see them as harmless intimations of attraction. But now after receiving a few I realise they're a waste of time. I've no idea how to respond, should I mail, wink back, block or go unlos
If you get one what do you do??? |

I like getting them. Maybe because as a single guy it's a rare event! I use it as a way to show "I like your profile, you look good, if you respond I'll introduce myself" |

I do look at them but most are from people I wouldn't be looking for. Ones I think are pointless are winks from profiles with little info and no photos. |

"Depends on how cute the person is.
But yes, winks are for lazy or shy people. "
I think putting Lazy and Shy in the same bracket is a tad unfair. Someone doing a wide search and winking the lot is one thing but someone who sees a profile they like and doesn't want to ruin their chances with a message that could be misconstrued is another in my opinion. I've never "winked" casually |

we wink - sometimes a profile just catches our eye - maybe we are in the middle of something so we wink and hotlist and go back to send a messsage later rather than just send a quick nothing messge |

We don't mind receiving or sending winks as an initial form of contact. If they are 100's of miles away then we don't bother. If they are near and look interesting then we often investigate further. |

I don't think they are a waste of time. It shows an initial attraction and would be a cue for us to look at their profile and wink or message back if we like what we see.
However, I do get annoyed as I feel like most people (or most of the people who wink us, anyway) use winks because they don't meet what we are looking for on our profile but still want to signal to us to check them out without sending a message that they know wouldn't be welcome because they don't meet our preferences. Those are the winks I wish would stop.

I personally find winks a good icebreaker. In parallel, I do like to put some thought into what I'm writing as well so a wink can be welcome to signal that you're up for a chat (and can be quickly reciprocated), and avoid the 'dreaded rushed one-liner' that really is a waste of everyone's time. |

The site admin stuff says a wink is a way of expressing an interest.....so why don't we just accept is as that and stop getting nickers in a twist.
If I get a wink off a lady or couple (yes it does happen sometimes lol!) then I will look at their profile....if I like what I see AND we appear compatible then I will probably message, say thanks etc... (Now texting and taking to a local lady with a view to meeting at the weekend). If I like...but maybe a bit far etc. then I may wink back and leave the next move to them!
I do not get concerned if a guy winks me...but will probably ignore it.
Feel free to wink me and see what happens. |

"With Platinum membership your are allowed unlimited winks at the same person. So I have devised a form of wink semaphore to communicate with people I'd rather not speak to.
Have one of my patented Funky Wink Cocks® darling.

We see it as an unobtrusive way someone is saying they are interested in our profile. There is no pressure on the receiver (us),to have to reply to a message from someone who may not have read our profile, which often happens to us. With a wink, we can respond with a wink, if we liked the profile, or just ignore if we didn't! |

I use winks to see if someone is interested in me, I'm too shy to message.
If I receive winks, I check the profile and if I like what I see I'll message them, thanking them for the wink and commenting on something from they're profile xx |

I never bother checking mine because I don't know how to respond, I used to wink back if the person caught my eye but then I'd get nothing back.. So it's always short lived and seems pointless checking them |
