I prefer SW because I find it easier not having to weigh everything out etc. and I think it encourages you to cook from scratch more, which is good for more reasons than just weight loss.
But I do tweak it a bit - so I don't have unlimited pasta, potatoes etc even if it says you can, I try to think about low GI foods and I do a few SP days a week (when the focus is on protein).
I think it's a bit trial and error, I didn't get on with WW but I know others swear by it. |

I love WW. It helps me keep weight off as well as once you've memorised the points you know what works best for you. My two tips for a successful stint on WW are.
1) eat butternut squash chips
2) try and go for a walk even if it's just round the block every single day.
Good luck. X |

I used both and they both worked. At my biggest I started with SW, I needed to know I was still able to feel full and could eat as often as I wanted. That stood me in good sted for almost 5st. Then I began to plateau and realised that my next challenge would be controlling portion size - and so I went to WW and have lost almost 3st with that.
Both work fabulously, like all diets - if you stick to them. |

I'm currently following the Slimming World plan. I personally find it easier as less food needs measuring than in my previous experience of Weight Watchers. SW seems to suit me as I started mid December and am currently 9.5lbs down. I need the discipline of weekly weigh ins. I'm finding it easier to get into a routine with it now but it's going to need to be longer term lifestyle changes to lose the rest and keep it off.
If you're asking because you're looking to select one I would have a look at their magazines and/or websites. I found sample weekly menus to give me an idea of the plans and see which would probably suit me best. |

My other half and I have had the most successful weight loss from slimming world. We have both tried WW and light a life (which made her collapse due to a lack of calories). Love SW as it's all real food you can eat loads of.... My colleagues find it hard to believe that I can have a bacon sandwich each morning and still loose weight. |

Slimming world was far to.restrictive for me... Yet relied on portion control... Which lets face it is hardly my strong point.
Loved ww... Till the change recently. Loved filling and healthy but the new smart points have taken away the choice that I enjoyed so much.
Don't get me wrong I get why they changed it.. And the new approach is about changing habits not dieting but I was losing 2-3lb every week on the old plan. The new plan I'm just not enjoying.
The best bit was that they changed the plan And you could trade in Your old stuff for the new points system. So was good to not have to shell out for new books, or calculators and scales x |

Well done.
I've done both & found they have their positives / negatives.
I did find though with SW portion control was a bit of a challenge. For example I would go out and buy the largest jacket potato just because I could so after a while my weight loss wasn't as good. Lack of discipline on my side. |

I eat out a lot it didn't work for me with what I enjoy.
I start my day with a big breakfast... Cooked. With bacon, mushrooms, even a fried egg ( with spray oil). Crumpets etc.
But sw I couldn't eat out as easy and stay within limits and if I am honest. The whole idea of syns psychologically made it to hard for me.
WW gave me much more freedom and yet didn't give me the issue with portion sizes on things like pasta. We its measured for things like that... Much better for me x
I'm.sure sw has ex ww members who say why ww, didn't work for them.. same as ww meetings get ex sw members. |

I attend WW and am getting to know their new smart points plan. There is still an option to eat foods that you don't need to count points.
Best change is they now focus on your health, not just losing weight. Looking at diet, exercise and positive mood impact on motivation.
The points are tailored to each person depending on height, weight and age. A more individual diet, not one diet suits all.
