Are you ambitious?

I was, 10 years ago, in a high-flying job, with lots of travelling opportunities, in middle management, with great prospect for career progression up the corporate ladder.

However, I was working stupid hours and was under a lot of pressure to deliver results, and had to travel during weekends from time to time.

Then a few life-changing events took place, and I am now contented with being a pleb with no management responsibilities, and am employed for my specialist knowledge and experience.

I can no longer travel frequently because of my pets, and would rather come home at a decent time and with sufficient energy to take the dog out for a walk and play with the cat.

I can come home without worrying about work, and be able to relax properly.

Life is grand!

little house on the praire

I think contentment and happiness come first. So many people in jobs where they work crazy hours go home just to sleep. Dont get chance to have family life and actually do things with the money they earn.

Jay retired at 55 so he could do all the things he wanted to do

I have worked in the public sector for many years. I know that the role I am working in now, whilst rewarding, is not where I want to be. I need something meatier.

I worked in child protection for many years and left because eventually it burns you out. I should have taken a career break doing something else and moved back into the role when I felt ready, and I could have done that, but instead I applied for a job I had little experience of and re-trained.

I know I want to move back into social care again and so will wait for the right opening to turn up, if it ever does

afraid I thought I was past being ambitious having run a company and all the pain that goes with it. After 2+ years of unemployment I was just greatful to get back to work but having been back in paid employment for a little over a year ow I find the old need to get on further has returned. It's what makes getting up in the morning worthwhile, especially as I'm spending far to much time away from K at the moment.

I'm ambitious but don't seem to have as much drive as I used to.

In my 20's and early 30's if I had an idea I would just jump up and do it, now I sit for ages thinking of plans for the said idea then end up saying sod it!

I think i'm just to contempt with what I have now..
