1) See a couple of shows. If Penn and Teller are still at the Rio, their show is/was very good. Also Cirque Du Soleil shows.
2) Rent a Car, see the Hoover Dam, take the tour.
3) Helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. Book one of the tours than lands in the canyon basin. Simply stunning.
4) See the different casinos - insides are good during the day, the nighttime spectacle outside.
5) Dont forget Fremont Street (at the top end of the strip). Use the monorail.
6) If you dont know how to play Blackjack, Poker etc, many of the casinos run hour long lessons at some of the tables. Also, the casinos have tables which will have $1, $2 minimum bets as opposed to the $5 or $10 tables. The Excalibur was one such hotel.

Finally, let the opulence of Las Vegas remind you that this is a town built on bad mathematics - the idea that you can beat the house. All that opulence and extravagance has been paid for five times over by people who thought they could beat the house! |

"We got married there 3 months ago... Do everything!!!!! "
Oh yes, this is what we'd planned!
Thanks for the advice everyone. We've booked Penn & Teller, Absinthe, a trip to the Hoover Dam and a helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon. Can't wait now! x |

Pop down to the Venetian and marvel at the Rialto Bridge that features a moving walkway so you don't have to bother climbing it... wander round the fake Grand Canal and amuse yourself at oversize Americans struggling to get in and out of gondolas... |

I vaguely remember slot machines in the airport - you could gamble before you went through passport control (could be wrong about that but it was noticeable). |

Mind you, there's a roller coaster at the top of the Stratosphere casino. That was alright.
And Belagio's has a fine collection of Monets, and now they have a Picasso exhibition, so it's not entirely a soulless, cultural wasteland.
Go see a show? Penn & Teller maybe... |

See a show in one of the hotels, I saw Chicago at The Mandalay Bay, that hotel also has a beach!
Check out if there is resident artist in Vegas at the moment, for example big names like Elton John, Celine Dion have done seasons there before.
Gotta go to Caesars Palace as its iconic & OTT.
Helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon.
The hotels alone are attraction themselves ~ all different themes.
It's an adult Disney!
I got married out there & luvred the experience ~ you'll have a great time.

I was walking down chapel row and there's one (drive-thru) that proudly boasted
Michael Jordan and Liz Taylor got married here
(although presumably not to each other) |

Hiya OP,
I've been there a few times. There is some really good advice on this thread. I'm on my phone at the moment but if you want to pm me I can send you some more information when I get home and near my laptop.
I hope you have a great time.

Theres 3.....well 3 rides anyway- just remember to take a pee before you go outside- it can be quite cold and those rides squeeze and shake you. Theres one at the New York i think too (unless that another hotel on the blown up and replaced list....its been a while). I remember there being a zoo in another hotel- bit weird standing underneath a tiger!
Also, the shopping outlets at either end of the strip were pretty good when i went, got quite a lot of decent clothing at silly prices (you'll need to catch a bus to both, ones the other side of the airport and the other is way in the opposite direction from what i can remember).
You can also get a limo for the same price as a cab if you're cheeky and offer cash |
