So we had a similar thread a while ago in here but I don't think it's been done recently - it's the 'my home town has lots of lovely attractions - other than just me of course' thread.
I live in Reading which has, er a nice shopping centre at the Oracle with some Riverside cafes and bars. Um, and a casino...
Ok I'm struggling a bit with Reading itself (maybe the A329 exit road away from town!) but slightly further afield you have the ancient Roman settlement of Silchester, which is nice for walks, as is Burnham Beeches and Virginia Water. And it's near Windsor or Henley or Marlow for spiffing days out on the River Thames!
So why not come and visit (me!) and take in the sights while you're here!
Or if Reading isn't your bag (or me) then how about the lovely home towns and attractions of the posters below!? |

I live on the Chester/North Wales border and I love it! So much to see and do locally and brilliant transport networks to Liverpool/Manchester.
10/20 mins from mine into Chester city centre, or 10/20 mins in the other direction into Welsh countryside. Beautiful |

Norwich is, as it says on the signs welcoming you, a fine city. There's the Norman castle and Cathedral which both nestle in the city centre as well as the photogenic Elm Hill which was used in the film Stardust. There are many old buildings if they are your thing, numerous pubs and equally numerous churches. The music scene is very vibrant with gigs from some very talented local bands and musicians. There are the two universities, the brightly coloured market and the rather excellent library. What more could anyone want apart from a hug from me? |

"I've lived in Brum for 5 months and so far, I've spent every weekend out in London or elsewhere. Not sure what that says!!!"
Seriously? I could spend a whole day just in Birmingham museum.
They had to virtually kick me and my daughter out at closing time...
Scunny gets a lot of flak but there's more here than you might think. We've a decent little gallery in a wonderful Victiran Gothic church, a good local museum, 2 theatres, and lots of nice green areas. That's just the town itself, there plenty more to see nearby.
I like my home town |

Your going to laugh or argue with me here but there is a strong argument that Robin Hood actually comes from Tunbridge Wells, was an article in our local paper recently. There is a pub here called the Robin Hood which is on an estate named Sherwood.
Apart from that we have a lot of history here, Dunorlan Park, Chalaybete Spring, great places to eat out, done nice pubs and the panties.
Love it here |

What was once one of the most exciting, mixed, genuinely creative and diverse areas of the nations capital has recently become full of middle class twattery, expensive coffee shops and more hipsters than you can shake a banjo at. Forcing prices up and fun people out.
However we still have some fabulous Turkish restaurants, a marvelous market and lovely parks.

My tiny home town is always winning nice places to visit awards in the papers, there's 2 castles within 10 mins walk of my house if that's your thing plus another 7 mile away, Canterbury cathedral a bit further than that.
There's sandy beaches a 15 min drive away and an amusement Park that recently reopened! I'm a member so can get in for free if anyone fancies a go on the dodgems
And a quick hop over the channel for a day trip to France if that's your thing. |

I live in a small village near Llandudno and Conwy. Both wonderful places to visit.
Beautiful beaches, majestic mountains, capped with snow this time of year.
The history pours out of every building. Castles and monuments to prehistory are everywhere.
The landscape is breathtaking all year round.
Amazing countryside in which Pooch and I can be found.

also just down the road is maple Durham mill.. which appears on the cover of the first black Sabbath album |

I live near Cockermouth in Cumbria. Famous for William Wordsworth, Fletcher Christian (leader of the mutiny on the Bounty) and water. Lots of friggin water! Main Street and houses in the town centre wiped out twice in 6 years. On the up side I'm 15 minutes away from the sea in one direction and 20 minutes from the beautiful Lake District in the other direction. And despite all the water I wouldn't live anywhere else! |

Brighton has a marina, a nudist beach, a big wheel, a pier, a tall tower with a viewing platform due to open this year, a beach with shops, the Royal Pavilion, the lanes - which are full of independent shops, loads of Georgian architecture and me. |

"Nottingham
The land of Robin Hood still plenty of out laws here but not as bad as media reports.
We have -
'yet old trip to Jerusalem'
Oldest pub in uk.
Nottingham castle
The caves
Major oak
Blidworth woods (if your into dogging, mind the boy racers)
Great night life
Lots lots more, just ask
Come and I'll show you around
Your going to laugh or argue with me here but there is a strong argument that Robin Hood actually comes from Tunbridge Wells, was an article in our local paper recently. There is a pub here called the Robin Hood which is on an estate named Sherwood.
Apart from that we have a lot of history here, Dunorlan Park, Chalaybete Spring, great places to eat out, done nice pubs and the panties.
Love it here
He was American for a bit when Kevin Costner played him "
Best line ever in a film when Robin and his men landed in the south coast and Costner said 'tonight we will sup with my father in Nottingham'. Erm..... Lol! |

"I can trump you all... The Magic Roundabout.
I win. Where do I get my prize?
Hemel hempstead?! That fucking thing! Argh!
Isn't it in Swindon ?
They both have one."
Although it is worth noting that Swindon's was voted worst roundabout in the UK and Hemel's a paltry second. Also there's bugger all else worth talking about swindon unless you like trains! Come to swindon yay!! |

Yep, plus according to Rough Guide, it's in the Top 20 cities in the world to visit.
Plus, the new swing bridge in the Old part of town has just won major awards.
Plus it is next years City of Culture!
Plus, The Telegraph recently named it in the UK's Top 20 cities list!

I spent 3 months working on the renovations of that big metal thingy which led to me having a bit of a meltdown. I'm not keen to return but if you'd like to persuade me....... |

"I've slept on it and Reading is still rubbish! But on a positive note it's better than Bracknell and Slough. So it's all good "
That is very true The good thing about Reading is the motorway getting you out of it and the train service is good. The surrounding areas are pretty tho. Trouble is Reading is home after 40 plus years here (the outskirts anyway ) |

I live in Norwich, what more can I say? It's on of the best in the world with its rich history and quaint local businesses x
Norwich is lovely......... I so want to move back, has a great football team and the Norfolk broads on ya doorstep......
Exactly it's a busy city but the countryside surrounding it is beautiful and not far from the North Norfolk coast.
I love my canaries."
I love the canaries too |

Port Talbot |
Port Talbot.. With a unique example of a 20th century steelworks which dominates the horizon and stretches majestically into the distance - almost as far as the eye can see. The cold mill and the hot mill are amongst the most impressive in Europe, if not the world, and it has blast furnaces that stand like sentinels, guarding the town.. The people here are lovely, though! |

ah it's ok really - nice shops, restaurants and of course people! Just no obvious stand out 'touristy' type attractions like the major cities would have. And it's close enough to London for some world class attractions so it's ok really! And I can't afford the stamp duty to move - ha x |

"I've lived in Brum for 5 months and so far, I've spent every weekend out in London or elsewhere. Not sure what that says!!!"
You really have to get to know Brum and the history of the place. I love it there and it's always been my city of choice for days/nights out. Though saying that a lots of the small, independent clubs have shut their doors now, which is a real shame. |
