As normally has resumed in terms of my fitness regime I wonder if other my age plus do the same if not more exercise to try and keep the middle age spread at bay.
I currently cycle to work (128 miles a week) I do Jiu Jitsu twice a week (2 hour sessions) and a 5 mile run Sunday mornings, some say I do too much, others say I could do more but don't see how, anyone else and exercise nut at this age or am I really the only one doing this amount? |

I used to do triathlons culminating in an ironman. I know what it takes to put in the hours and how difficult it can be at times. I take my hat off to you. |

"Do you think also as you get older you have more free time? I know im only a nipper but im finding this. Xx"
Not so much free time, but using what time I have wisely, I read recently that at the age of 35 your hormones change so fighting the fat comes more difficult, doing exercise in the core areas to reduce said flab (sit ups for stomach) no longer work, it's a fine balanced diet and all over body workout (Jiu Jitsu) is the type of exercise you need, gunna start swimming soon, just as soon as I get the "S" sewn back on my speedos ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

We're both over 40 and excercise regularly.
Cal cycles to work 3 days a week and goes to the gym. I do HIIT classes and gym work so am pretty fit. I could do with shifting some flab so I need to improve my diet a bit really but not doing a well as I could
It's harder to keep fit as you get older I think.

Sadly due to injury I can't play football competitively any more, but I coach and that is good exercise and have lost a stone since playing golf a couple of times a week on a hilly course from the middle of last year. Feel pretty fit but am sure I could do more. |

At the monment I'm riding to work at least 3 days a week (15 miles each way) and training for my next marathon. Just about to join the gym by work for 2 additional lunchtime sessions of interval training on the treadmill as well as the longer evening and weekend runs. Plus stretching and core work |

Just where I need to be. |
I walk to work which is a fast 30 minutes. My job entails lots of moving and being flexible. I do routine of core excercises and yoga. I hate going to the gym as my face goes bright red.I think I could do more but bit lazy. |

walk the dog. Rugby in winter, cricket in summer, chop logs, cycle from time to time. I do the odd P90X fitness thing but still eat too much crap for it to make much difference. |

Finding I have less time the older I get as I'm more coach and taxi driver between dance and athletics and other activities.
Still, I manage to run about four times a week, approx 40km, and nearer 60km closer to a half marathon event
I dint think the op is overdoing it either. 24 miles a day on a bike, commuting ?, is actually not that much ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

Got 4.9 decades under my belt and currently cycle to work (little over 80 miles per week), at least 10k on the erg in the gym after work (the cycle home is a bit chalenging on the full presure evenings). Then on the weekend at least 8 miles rowing on the canal each morning.
(Might even get rid of that blipping spare tyre one day.) |

I've just turned 40, and am fitter now than I've ever been. I usually run at least 35 miles a week - will be running upto 60 miles a week in next few months for marathon training, and walk probably 20 miles a week. |
