Was just after some advice, our smoke alarms are hard wired into the house with back up batteries, they keep going off for no reason, there's no smoke and checked everywhere in the house, changed batteries and gave them a clean but still going off, any idea as to why? There not even that old |

I've had this and apparently it was because the temperature dropped so much during the night. Solution was to replace them. Luckily that was the landlords responsibility not mine. |

Depending on the type, there's many things that can trigger a smoke alarm. Ours can be triggered by static electricity, dust, spray from aerosol, and even smoke. It is worth giving them a hover out every so often, and being careful not to do things close to them which may be a trigger.
Try to spot patterns to when they're going off and see if you can link that to a cause.

do a google search for home security systems answers .... check the section smoke detectors and part way through there are some trouble shooting guides ..... should help you understand what's going wrong and you may be able to sort it without professional help. |

Have you cleaned the sensors themselves? It could just be one of them triggering the system, so getting new one and swapping the existing ones out one at a time might reveal the offending one - a bit of a pain, but cheaper than replacing them all |

As others have said. Call local station they may have some in stock and will fit for free. They will be ten year battery ones though not hard wired. Also some are cutting back due to costs and only fit them if you fit certain criteria. But well worth a phone call. |
