Bond - Dalton
Film - You only live twice.
Daltons Bond was closest to the books, but the film's were hampered by poor scripts - particularly The Living Daylights which had been half scripted as a Roger Moore vehicle.

It's a little misleading - Bond is Bond... the best bit is the baddie.
I vote for:
* Max Zorin, played by psycho for hire, Christopher Walken, from View to a Kill
Followed by the horribly sinister
* Mr Wint & Mr Kidd from Diamonds are Forever
Although for personal reasons, I'd die happily between the thighs of
* Xenia Onatopp, who was the best thing in Goldeneye

Titz Towers, North Notts |
Goldfinger as I think that one had it all.
Cracking song, Aston Martin DB5, a wonderfully ott plan, a great villain, a loon with a bowler hat, Pussy Galore and just seemed to set the formula in stone. |

"James bond fans who is your fav bond and film. Mine is George Lazenby. On her majestys secret service."
I love this film. Man with the golden gun and live and let die are good films too. The two Timothy Dalton films are very under rated |

I've been trying to decide since I saw this thread... But nope... Still can't. I'm torn between Sean Connery and Daniel Craig for favourite bond but I can't pick a movie...
However the db5 is my all time fav bond car x |

By far the best for me is OHMSS with Lazenby, it has everything. Including "this never happened to the other fella!"
Favourites from the others:
Connery - "From Russia With Love", nice hard edged spy thriller
Roger M - "Live and Let Die" his last 2 were poor esp "Living Daylights"
Tim Dalton "Living Daylights" is pretty ok
Brosnan "GoldenEye" he was weakest Bond IMO
Craig "Casino Royale", I liked "slyfall" until the rubbish sub-"A Team" ending in the scots house, a film of 2 halves!
My dad took me to Switerland in 1970s to where OHMSS was filmed, mega exciting! |

To be honest I enjoy the Connery/Moore because they don't take themselves too seriously, and they were quite funny.
BUT I much prefer the Timothy Dalton/Daniel Craig films because they reeked of self loathing and they didn't really enjoy what they had to do (a bit like myself)
Connery and Moore were a pair of narcissistic cunts that loved killing and it was all about the cheese |

on the road to nowhere in particular |
Pierce Brosnan was hampered by dreadful scripts. It was unfortunate because he had the steel of Connery and the smoothness of Moore. It's a shame that contractual disputes meant that he wasn't Bond earlier instead of the dreadful Dalton. By far and away the worst bond by a country mile. The Dalton era is rarely shown on tv.
I had high hopes for Daniel Craig at the beginning but he has messed around with the character too much. Far too much angst. I'm not interested in Bonds childhood, I want to see him kill baddies.
Best Bond theme
Live and let Die
Best film
From Russia with love.

My least fave Bond is Moore.
Favourite? I dont know. I really liked OHMSS with Lazenby, but then I also liked most of the Connerys especially Goldfinger, (the Aston of course dear boy) most of the Brosnans, all the Daltons and most of the Craig's.
Song? We have all the time in the World, from OHMSS of course, From Russia with Love because Matt is an exceptional singer, Live and Let Die is tremendous too.
Dalton was probably much closer to the books, at the time, because Moore had been so far away, particularly at the end of his reign. As someone said, poor scripts let Daltons performances down.
But what do we know, people keep flocking to see Bond films after 50 odd years and 24 films, someone is doing something right. |

Is it just me or are the new bond films getting a bit meh? Find myself getting bored halfway through the new ones, something I never do with the old ones, they seem to have taken on a more serious approach to it all. |

In my opinion the older ones were starting to get ridiculous, seemed to be a heavier reliance on gadgets. And the gadgets were just getting stupid, the invisible car just took the biscuit!

Now it's Daniel Craig and Casino Royale , think he's a brilliant actor and the film was a good back to basics bond.
Still a close run Second is Timothy Dalton and the Living Daylights, they are the only two bond films that I never tire of watching.
it's just a pitty they didn't have Dalton around now to do Casino Royale, would love to have seen him in that film, at the age he was in Daylights, I recon he would have made a damn good job of it.
On a side note, I think I'm the only person in the world who just found Skyfall meh and dull, Daniel Craig and Dame Judy, Javier Bardem and Ben Wishawl (think that's right) all brilliantly actors and fine performances but just didn't like the film.
Haven't seen Specter yet as its just put me off watching another Sam Mendeze Bond film |
