Mostly in GU24

I am pretty sure I'm not alone in caring for a special needs child and elderly mother. I'm talking housebound with alzheimers and vascular dementia.

My question is: how on earth do you ever get time to meet?!

I'm just exhausted with it all plus working. Can't imagine having 2 seconds to spare!

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Perhaps those that meet only do it when they have respite care in?

I couldn't cope with looking after my demented mother (also two types of dementia at the same time!) so you have my admiration for managing so much more. Don't forget to look after yourself otherwise you won't be able to keep it up.

Good luck finding time for a meet.

We manage. Take opportunities when they arise. It's hard but it's what we do x

I spent time looking after my mother with vascular dementia....over a period of years....of and on when I didn't have carers....it is very demanding and tough. I wasn't on this site at thetime but if I was....or was trying to date...It would have been a night mare. It all had a ddetrimental effect on my marriage to...very sadly. But you do as you feel you need to...and believe is right when caring for a vulnerable person...I wish you well. Now I have the time..my mother having died...I rarely get meets anyway...sods law I guess..

I care for my dad 24 /7..he is house bound and in a wheelchair.. He now lives with me.. and my youngest son has a disability. I have no other family.. So I get where you are coming from.. It is very difficult to get any time to myself.. There are forms of respite care you can use if you contact social services.. I personally don't.. As have other ways.. But know those who couldn't do without x

Perhaps we need a carers and ex-carers social to get everyone together struggling to arrange 1:1 meets due to the time constraints?

Are there friends or family who could help ? Look into getting carers? Respite?

I help my mum care for my disabled dad and Im very aware in a year or two will be caring for both

i used to work in mental health community care - please start with the social services (maybe initially via your gp) you can get assistance - even if its a carer coming in for say a 2 hour slot - so you can have some time for yourself - or whether a daily visit is needed to give medication - many options but please dont struggle on alone xxx
