There have been previous threads about this so you may want to search. There are plenty of Fab folk on the spectrum.

Did find some other threads on the subject but they all seemed to have died of and this is the most recent thread. Hoping to maybe revive it.

I (male of the couple) am on the spectrum, and wondered how other swingers on the spectrum handle things.

Clubs are big sticking point - we really want to try a club but worried about the anxiety and sensory issues due to my condition.

Is it worth taking small steps, like driving to the club but not getting out of the car. Baby steps like this.

Apologies for my ignorance on the subject, I know of someone issues linked to this but no way know enough to understand.

Is it the crowds of people or the noise levels that worry you?

Brighton - even Hove!

I know of at least 3 people who are successful on Fab and have autistic spectrum condition. It seems that clubs tend to work well for them because the social nuances are minimal - I'm assuming you can get naked and just ask to join in but I don't know for sure.

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

*waves* I have ASD and I find it quite easy meeting people....mostly I think because I am a girl so when I get really excited and flap people think I am cute or tipsy. Clubs and parties can be horrendous if the music is loud - my brain gets jumbled and can't think.I am not keen on too many people too so we mostly do smaller or quieter parties and private meets. We have a group of friends who all know and they aren't bothered at all so that's good

I'm an aspie and have found fab to be a great way of meeting people. I haven't tried going to a club yet as I'm not very good in crowds, but I intend to go at some point.

ASD does cover a wide range of people and symptoms that affect the person , some will be internal some will externalise into behaviours and mannerism. Labels can worry others but simple explanations calm others. I will sometimes where necessary say I have nerve damage in my hand (true), the fact its due to MS is largely irrelevant for most people but knowing I have nerve damage makes sense of my actions, putting them and me at ease. Go for a simple honest approach .."Hi my name is X, I wanted to try a club but I am new and nervous.." Hey presto you are chatting to someone, thats half the battle over!

Try and enjoy!

A curiosity of ASD with respect to social services and Bennys is that DLA has been phased out for ASD in the UK except for Northern Ireland !

I prefer the term ASC rather than ASD - it's not a disorder, it's a condition.

Maybe it isnt either. Maybe its just that all people are different and unique.

Such is variables from conception and then birth that it's impossible for us not to be a bit different, there is nothing that can't be overcome with autistic problems may take loads effort and a bit of a gritted teeth moment. Hope o.p has a ball and 10 quid says if he is hung like my brother it's gonna be huge ha ha

I share a lot in common with aspies and I know a fair few people on the spectrum or with kids on the spectrum. Nothing to worry about if it's an issue of blending in or being accepted. Do your thing, man!
