I'm loving how marvel and DC are now using heroes to tackle real world issues and human dilemmas.

Jessica Jones looks at PTS and mental health.

Dare devil looks at how two different people can want the same thing but go about it two completely different ways

Superman has looked at suicide and whether it's "right or wrong"

Batman constantly weighs up whether the end justifies he means.

Comics have come on so much since he says of spandex and unusual onomatopoeias.

Image comics has some very good books out too. Helspawn is amazing! Look it up and you might enjoy it.

Onomatopoeia's first appearance was in Green Arrow #12!

Eh.... Pretty sure they have been used as a metaphor for social issues since they came out in the 40s and 50s. Lol. Even with their spandex, onomatopoeia, and Boners!

X-Men have always been used to represent the castigated in society - started with race issues (obvs), then AIDS victims in the 80s etc. Now that are often used for disability / sexuality separations that still happen in society.

And Captain America and Ironman have always been used to make comment on the political and martial situation, in the US and globally. And, on a more federal level, so has Batman.

And Superman has often tackled the issue of how people deal with power, making very astute and not so subtle parallels between its villains (or sometimes Superman himself) and contemporary political figures.

So yeah.... Not really that new a thing... Lol.

Hi.... A big comics geek, here.... Lol

When translated onto screen, Marvel do well with movies and DC do well with TV shows and animation. Just my opinion. DC aren't as flaunting as Marvel with annual movie releases.

I haven't been to comic con since late 2014

SuperGirl is interesting particularly the unveiling of Martian Manhunter!!!

Agents of SHIELD returns on Saturday 10th, on E4 channel

Superman v Batman; Dawn Of Justice

Is it a precurser to a full blown Justice League film, as it also features Wonder Woman??

Yes! Take a look at the websites that specify the coming comic book based cinematic releases for the next few years. Just as there is the mcu, so the batman v superman film is intended to launch the dceu (dc extended universe)

The movies brought Marvel and DC to the mainstream and some are very good. .. Iron man 3 to me was not a good movie and the malfunctions on the armor where a bit too much! Doctor strange and deadpool(after a shocking attempt at him on xmen origins) are the movies I look forward to the most. Grew up with the books and have some as old as 60's. Always enjoyed both universes and its nice to see how geeks went from a few bullied kids in school to a legion. Rock on people

Gotham looks like it could start to go silly soon

Granted, we're seeing the birth of the villains, as well as the lead-up to BatMan

Then again, maybe it's the grittiness (Jim Gordon, in particular) of it all, that makes me think that way
