We don't understand the mess...and the people living there don't understand the mess....no one does. Saudi Arabia....well...shit corrupt country that we ...in shame pander to for oil. Well....I will make the easy choice...I blame faith...God ...religion....corrupting natural human thought.

their embassy in tehran was attack last night....

you can call it regional politics playing out.... and kinds puts the west in a awkward position....

the un have criticised saudi, but you know the western powers are going to be reluntant to

no, I dont think it is. It's Islam - with its two factions - which is tearing itself apart.

The shia cleric was executed by sunnis, Saudi may look powerful but it would take very little to destabilise it, toppling the bloated ruling family. Saudi is right at the top of the Islamist revolutionaries' list. I imagine this was a demonstration of it's loyalty to sunni Islam. Saudi is more afraid of this than it is of Iran. Iran, to, is afraid or the march of the Sunnis.

All of this comes about because of the chronic under-development of what should be rich states and a dissatisfied public. The West is seen as a support for these unpopular regimes...
