What kind if city you should live in depends on the lifestyle you want!? What do you like: sights / nightlife / hot girls / clean air? |

There's no clean air in China.

There is - you just need to go west...
There are other reasons you may not want to go west |

Been looking at Qingdao & Hangzhou so far want somewhere fairly scenic either by the sea like Qingdao or the lakes and hiking trails of Hangzhou. I know the clean air is unlikely but I'm ok with that. I want there to at least be some westerners there but not so much I might as well be home like in Shanghai. Nightlife wise as long as there's a decent few bars that's fine by me ideally a sports bar to watch the prem but other than that I'm fairly open. Its more the teaching institutions I want to know who to trust regarding sorting visa's paying on time and sorting me decent accommodation out. |

"No way, I'm from Qingdao! Lol
It's awesome there, and in reality has probably the best air you'll get, as it's by the coast, with inland winds. "
Really no way
It does look good there plus I'd love to live on the coast. How is the local cuisine there? |

Lots of seafood, as expected. Otherwise it's just Northern Chinese cuisine (which is your stir fries, many veggies, not very spicy). Pretty diverse too, quite modern, but not disgustingly metropolitan like Beijing or Shanghai... Some good schools etc. |

Sounds good as I wouldn't want spicy all the time and I love seafood and stir fries. Might of guided me towards there if I can find a well recommended school
Thank you |

The girls in Chengdu are also notoriously pretty. Just putting that out there. It's a big city, but more laid back that Shanghai or Beijing - kind of like Bristol... but with panda's |

Shenzhen is awesome, it's all so new, great restaurants, easy to get around and the massage places are like something you've never seen. Ah that's better, I can be happy for you now. Seriously the massage places are nothing like here, we go there as a family, 3 generations and it's a great night out for all of us that isn't even that expensive. |

When you're there though you'll meet HUNDREDS of Chinese men. And trust me, they come in all shapes and sizes. Lol.
I don't go for Chinese men, either, but when I went in September, even I turned my head a few times.
Never say never! Lol |

We both find them very attractive (if they are bi), soft features + not hairy = good combination! We'd love a bi chinese guy to play with. |

Coastal- I love the beach so wanted to be close - didn't fancy bejing as it gets way too cold
It will depend on what type of school you want to teach in to the start dates - I wanted public schools so I get weekends free and most of July & August free as I have festivals planned here, so I start on the 1st Match but have to be in China 1 week before. The privste schools are more flexible on start dates but you work evenings and weekends throughout the year |

Yeah it was public I wanted to get into as it seems less risky and better paid. I might have to look into Shenzhen as an alternative to Qingdao

"Whoever taught them English didn't do a very good job. All their 'manuals' are in Chinglish which is totally incomprehensible"
The standard varies dramatically, especially by age. I've met English teachers (chinese nationals) that I could barely understand. Then again try learning chinese and you'll see why. |
