Has anyone here heard of The Venus Project? If you haven't then it's an organization based in Venus, Florida that have a lot of answers to solve the worlds problems.
In the end it would mean living with no politics or money system and everyone has equal access to what they need in life and we would use science to operate society instead of politics and money. They have also designed new cities/infrastructure based on being more efficient and sustainable. Also we wouldn't have to have jobs as technology is advanced enough to produce what we need for free. So instead of "is there enough money" it would be "is there enough resources".
Anyway it's pretty cool so here you go

Jacque fresco is a very intelligent guy. Used to love listening to him talking.
Dunno if the venus project is perfect but it's not half bad and sounds feasible. Technocracy is the future and the future should be now, but while fucked up people like having power i don't think anything will change any time soon. |

Yeh I think that's true that things won't change soon. If the world gets better wither it's the venue project or something else I think we're 20/30 years away at least. The internet is helping though as I think people in general are a lot less trusting of politicians. The worse things get the more people will want something different...hopefully TVP  |

Yeah I'm a big fan of Jacques, I think in essence he's counteracting the need for selfishness, which in its crux is modern consumerism!.
Workable? Probably not yet, I don't think he's giving answers to world problems, more like other possible thought paths to solutions |

But surely the world needs a bit of selfishness too, it often drives progress. If people didn't want more, we'd still be living in caves and hunting bison with clubs

Yes it's definitely about a different way of thinking and approaching problems but I would say it is workable just now (sort of). The technological side of it is possible now. Like the cities he's designed and infrastructure .
I hope we haven't gone to far down the wrong path though to the point of no return. I think we'll get there eventually but the transition side of it won't be easy or quick  |

People are communal and reciprocal (as well as a host of other things). |

He certainly points out the flaws in current thinking like suburban sprawl, if we happen to find in 20 years that energy isn't as cheap as today |

Yeah, most people give to charity when we can coz we don't like to think of other people suffering. Don't know why people pretend that people are generally selfish when they tend not to be. |
