I may be forced to lose weight if my daughter's boyfriend proposes. It's looking likely so I should really get started asap. I don't want to be the heffer in the wedding photos, especially if his mum is slim. |

Already a regular at the gym, but need to ramp it up a bit after Christmas! Not put on too much weight, just haven't had the time to exercise as much with the kids being off school etc. |

Will continue to run, use the gym at work, boxercise etc am signed up to the short course league with the running club and a half marathon in April.
Have signed up for 4 kickboxing lessons for a quid starting next week.
Want to walk snowdon at some point and am tempted by a sprint system triathlon and maybe a mudrunner/obstacle run somewhere.
Also might take up horse riding again. |

Using the pushbike instead of the car for every journey under 5 miles and some up to 10 or so where I don't need to transport more than 40l (large panniers' capacity) of stuff. |

So I've joined my local leisure centre and pay £19 a month that includes fitness classes and swimming and the gym. So I'm doing Zumba 3 times a week swimming once a week then a hard core fitness class once a week though not decided which one. I've invested in a good sports bra and gym wear so I'm on the road to getting semi slim I still think I look better with a bit of wobble as when I go really slim it looks like I have a massive head. |

working out at home is tough, gyms are even worse, tried it once, they're soul destroying, how some people get motivated in them is beyond me, find an activity you enjoy is my best advice, the martial arts I've been doing for nearly 8 years now, 2 hours of high cardio and using muscle groups you wouldn't normally when doing a gym workout or basic exercising, the cycling is my commute to work, the running on a sunday is just me trying to keep the ticker healthy, once you hit 40, shifting the excess weight becomes more difficult due to changes in your hormones. |

"What about nutrition......when you hit the forties is it still about protien or...,."
only have a high protein diet if your pushing weights, well balanced and in moderation is the key, don't try any fad diets that are out there, you know whats healthy and what isn't, stick to what you know, up your exercise and keep the rewards. |

Music and a good pre workout gets me motivated. |

"Is be happy to provide free dietary and fitness advice as I run my own successful personal trainer company. Feel free to message xx"
I'd be interested in that, i've never actually looked for advice on specific dietary just used common sense, but every little helps as they say. |

Cheapest easiest way is jogging/running build yourself up to a 5k... Then Beyond... It's very addictive too.....
If you said to me this time last year I'd be running 5 /10k's and enjoying it I would have laughed in your face.... Turns out I do enjoy it |

As everyone else is getting slim and fit I feel it's my duty to stay a porker and give the chubby chasers something to play with

Back into the cycling for me. Did 2500km last year, but illness and work meant I only got out once in December.
Just went out for a 2 hour ride and 6km in the crank seized . Not the start I wanted. |

"Just read an interesting article that Nell Andrews does both Park run and British Military Fitness. So does that mean if I add Park run I will look like Nell?"
She is a very good runner. I think her marathon pb is 2hrs 53mins which a lot of good male club runners would be happy with. |

I joined the gym at the beginning of December, does that count me out of the New Years resolution crowd?
I've picked the particular one because the classes fit perfectly with my free time, so I can do kettle bells and circuits. It's a 'functional' gym so I still need an induction as if I go when there isn't a class on I wouldn't have a clue what to do!
I started looking at my diet and following a 40/30/30 approach about 4 months ago but I didn't really get my head around it so I'm hoping to be able to become more knowledgeable in the nutrition side and get to the gym as often as possible.
Nothing new really, just carrying on whee I left off - before I ate Christmas!!! |
