the term legend is thrown about too much these days but in the case of Lemmy it was an accurate description. I will miss his acerbic wit and lightening fast thunderous bass |

Fortunately we have had the pleasure of seeing Lemmy and Motor head a couple of times. A legend who has been killed by death.
May he rest louder than everyone else xx |

"Apparently had a very aggressive form of cancer and he only found out on the 26th of this month. Very sad.
Fuck cancer. "
That's what I read too. At least he had a good last birthday & Christmas. I'm sure that's a memory that his loved ones will cherish. |

From the Motorhead Facebook page
'There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.
We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.
We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.
Have a drink or few.
Share stories.
Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.
HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT.
Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister

He looked so thin at Glastonbury this summer. Then, more recently, he had to stop a show just a few numbers in whilst in the States due to illness. Yet he somehow managed to continue!

I'm gutted by the news, its so sad, i have been a motorhead fan since 1979 and a hawkwind fan for even longer. I saw motorhead play at glastonbury this year and thought Lemmy wasn't himself, just had that feeling that something was wrong. I wish i had been wrong. He was a lovely guy, i'm devastated that he has gone. Rip. |

Although this very aggressive cancer took his life very quickly he has been struggling with health problems for quite a while so hate to think how weak his body had become. It's amazing he made it this far

"A sad day.. rip lemmy.. a true rock god.. "
Great words to describe him. Have my own motorhead tattoo on my chest with what he has on his arm. Inspired by the gravely voiced legend at a young age.
So long. |

Also truly gutted by waking to this what a legend this guy was.
The last article I read about him was he switched from JD and Coke to pineapple juice and vodka to help his diabetes that could only of been a couple of months ago |

I hope all the music journalists who slated his last performances have the decency to not now wax lyrical about a legend who they just took chap shots at.
There was no one like lemmy he was unique if rock is the music of rebels, then lemmy was the rebel of all rebels, but always looked like some bloke you would see in the local boozer
Rip lemmy, your gone, but my god didn't you live |

" I saw motorhead play at glastonbury this year and thought Lemmy wasn't himself, just had that feeling that something was wrong."
Aye, the fact he was still singing Ace of Spades when the rest of the band (including him) was playing Overkill was a bit of a giveaway. You could see his confusion that head and hands weren't co-ordinated, it was painful to see.
RIP Lemmy |

Read his autobiography White Line Fever a few years ago.
What a guy."
I can imagine that's a good read I must check it out. |

RIP Legend
Saw Motorhead once...
Lemmy walked out on to a black stage and whispered into a mike "this band dont take prisoners" and then I was hit by a wall of noise as they started in with 'Over the Top'
Took days for my ears to stop ringing!

A sad day, been following Motorhead since 1981 and was lucky enough to share a drink and a chat with Lemmy in the old marquee Club in the 80's. At least he didn't linger, but the hell do we go and watch now? |

Motorhead were the first band I ever saw in about 1980, 81ish in Chester ABC... I was even drinking with the band in the Queens Head across the road but didn't realise!
From that night on I was totally hooked by 'Rock'....
Thanks Lemmy, You made so many people happy including myself.

Some nice tributes on the news though. But yes a lot of the old guard are dying, very sad indeed . That said, Lemmy didn't linger, which he'd have hated |

Absolutely gutted. Lemmy wasn't just a celebrity, he was a bona fide rock legend, of the kind they just don't make any more. I had plans to see Motörhead play Manchester in 2016, too. Been playing their latest album on 11 today, by way of tribute. |

Motorhead at Brixton Academy in 1998 was my second ever gig. It was on a Saturday night. My ears finally stopped ringing about Monday lunchtime. Saw them for the ninth time at Wembley Arena last year, knowing it'd probably be for the last time. It was a sad thought then and it's even sadder now.

Don't forget Philthy Animal Taylor died back in November - it wasn't the first line-up, nor the longest serving, but Motorhead to me was, and always will be, Lemmy, Philthy and Fast Eddie.

So much more than Ace the of Spades.
Ironically my favourite Motorhead song is Killed By Death, I doubt Lemmy would mind it being played though.
Cracking sense of humor, watch the Foo Fighters Video for White Limo Lemmy is ace in that. |
