Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
Due to my local telephone exchange flooding, I spent 24 hours without a landline, broadband, mobile phone signal, and 3G.
What the bloody hell did we do before we had the internet? I couldn't even check which roads in York were closed so I could avoid them. The humanity!!! |

"We don't realise how much we rely on mobiles and internet connection.
Hopefully though Wyrdy that's the most you've had to deal with x"
It is. I've been very lucky this time round. |

It's amazing how dependent we become on things innit? Glad you haven't been too badly affected but my thoughts are with everyone who has been impacted by the awful flooding around the country - must be horrific |

was always the crapy radio for weather bulletins or the use of the cb radio for bad areas to avoid
sat navs come in handy for rds nowadays if yours updates on the rd works and diversions on daily updates |

"Apparently the shops in York couldn't take card payments and none of the cash machines are working. My friend used his loyalty card to get a coffee! "
I'm due to drop a hire car back tomorrow morning and have a feeling the car hire office is going to be underwater. |

Right now I'm glad I chose to live on the West side of York, rather than the East. My previous place in the centre, which I rented, is under water...
I was away for Christmas so didn't notice any outages, but got a similar effect from the fact that the 3G and internet at my parents' place is patchy to say the least! |

At least you'll be able to check the trains to Manc yourself now...it's pretty shitty when someone in the Big City could have to rely on someone in the Arse End of the Universe to check t'interweb for their get away for New Year |
