Enjoying a thread about a particular topic, why do some comment when it's unrelated to the subject?
Why not start their own thread about the 'off topic' subject?
Yes, I know I've probably opened mysrlf up for many off topic replies now... |

It's no different then real life, When a group of people get together and start talking about a particular topic and then one person says a comment that sends people off on a tangent |

Unless it's evidence being given in court or the reading of a film script , i've never been part of a conversation where people could only comment on the last comment and not mention something that the conversation brings to mind or ask a question of one of the contributors.
I never understand the people who cry that a thread has been ruined. Just because they can't see how a contribution links to a thread doesn't mean it doesn't fit. |

"I'm not keen on topics .. Prefer Mars bars "
Personally I could never go off topics, I love them, even though I swear there are fewer hazelnuts than when I was a kid.
(Bearing in mind I've quoted a comment, does this count as staying on topic or digressing? )

Ps, sometimes we just don't come here to take life too seriously... x |

I think a reply or two off topic is ok, so long as it doesn't take over the entire thread with a lengthy conversation that has nothing to do with the topic at all that kills off the thread and becomes some kind of private chatroom instead. |
