After being a little bit poorly my appetite was hugely suppressed by my body not feeling well. Obviously that's not a good way to lose weight but I wondered if there's any foods that suppress your appetite like that as normally I seem to have a huge appetite.
I am not overweight but do have to limit myself where as if my appetite was a little suppressed I probably would not feel like I was restricting myself as I just wouldn't feel too hungry.
I know some foods make you full for longer so I often have porridge.
I understand completely that you need to burn off the same amount of calories as you eat in order to stay the same weight.
I just wondered if there was anything that would make this not feel like I was holding myself back and just not desire all the extra food and treats that I want, a bit like when I was not feeli g my best?
I just couldn't face greasy foods and treats of that nature then...normally I over enjoy them, so.limit them and try to walk or dance extra! |

Main thing is water.. Often people mistake thirst for hunger.. Others are green tea, almonds, apples, vegetable juice, sweet potato, cayenne pepper, ginger, and dark chocolate. .. To name a few.. . Eggs for breakfast (not fried)will keep you feeling full for longer x |

Great tips thank you.
I am vegetarian but I can easily eat more vegetables and I will start drinking a pint of water before my meal or maybe if I get hungry before I reach for a snack.
I love eggs so I could start having eggs for breakfast. I often have porridge which I thought was also quite good for me.
I like eggs and beans on one piece of toast and I normally go for a wholemeal kind.
The water might help as it does feel to me like it's a portion control and also a snack thing that I need to curb a bit.
I have never know what it felt like to have such a little appetite as when I was ill and I was quite surprised that I could even feel like that. I hate that feeling of being not well, but the thought of food just didn't appeal much or often. |

Oatmeal is just as filling.. But make with water. . Or half and half... Add a little cayenne pepper over eggs as it is a natural suppressant.. Ginger also is if you can add this to foods... As well as fresh chilli as this speeds metabolism.. Tofu is a good alternative for veggie.. Roasted sweet potato with, plum tomato, red onion, parsnips and courgette with garlic cloves and chilli is tastey and filling... X |

The best meal plans for staying full and maintaining energy are generally 6 meals a day but obviously the portions are smaller just google it theres plenty of sites that'll give you meal plans and suggestions for each one.
breakfast is generally eggs and grains based with fruit or spinach
3 meals of protein and vegatables with lunch usually having a healthy carb like brown rice
2 meals/snacks of protein shake or cottage cheese or carrot sticks and celery
I have followed something similar once when I was really bothered about my body and got pretty ripped with exercise on top. These days I just watch the snacking and no carbs late in the day and I generally stay about the same weight and I don't drink my calories |

By no means an expert on this sort of stuff but when you have a craving for sweet things, doing something enegetic releases the sugars you're craving so going for a walk would be equally as satisfying as a snicker.
Also, smaller plates and portions; don't put all the food on the table, leave it in the pot - if it's on the table you're most likely to take seconds but youre less likely to get up to dish out another potion. All basic stuff but it's trained my appetite so now I eat less. |

I do enjoy a drink, are there some kinds of drinks that would be better for me than others? I'm luckily not somebody who stops at the chip shop on the way home,!
Are spirits for example better than wine and is wine better than beer? |

Keto will make you lose weight but eating shitloads of sat fats isn't good (coming from someone who successfully used Keto to lose weight). |

I'm interested that you eat porridge and find it satisfying...I find with porridge (and any carbs really) that i'm stuffed for 30 mins then 2 hours later i'm hungry to the point of having the shakes!
Protein all the way for me. Are you pescatarian or truly vegetarian OP? I find seafood sticks are great for snacking. And hard boiled eggs. |

When I was taking those slim sip sachets I felt full all the time, was only eating one meal a day at tea time when my daughter came home from school. I've run out now and with Xmas I've eaten enough food to feed a small village. |

Everyone can control their appetite and even train it.
Porridge is shit. It's high carb. It sends your blood sugar up and then drops you down quickly.
Drink a lot of water.
Eat protein at each meal ( just a little ) and lots of veg.
Restrict carbs to one fist size portion once a day and perhaps none at the weekend. Or the other way around if you are busy at the weekend.
Three meals or six small meals. It's up to you.
Your body will adapt. |

"Just through extra water... Wow!!!!"
No. Anyone who drinks extra water does it to eat LESS and keep the body hydrated.
If a person over eats and drinks extra water they are still over eating.
The water temporarily fills people up so they don't eat as much. |

I drink skimmed milk or water to help satisfy my hunger.
And a variety of vegetables will help keep you feeling full.
Replace a meal with porridge - especially as you say it keeps you feeling full.
Eat slowly, as our satiated feeling can take a while to kick in. |
