Hiya Everyone,
I've been interested in getting a nose piercing for a while now, years in fact, but simply can't decide whether I want to follow through with it.
Does anyone have any experience with getting one? Any tips, advice, warnings that will help me finally decide whether or not it's right for me? I'm being a bit of a baby about it but since it goes on my face I want to be sure whether I want one.
Thanks in advance for the help!!

I had mine does earlier this year and although it did smart a bit and made my eyes stream, it was worth it. I have a sparkly stud and the back is flexible so its comfy. |

I have it done, made my eyes water but didn't really hurt that much.
Just remember to follow the advice given to you and you won't have any problems.
I will say having my tongue pierced hurt a lot less!! (Didn't hurt at all Infact!) |

Thanks
Flexible backs, good to know
I'm not too worried about the pain, I've had piercings through thick cartilage before. I'm more curious about whether people ultimately liked the way it looked (or not, eek!) and tips on anything I wouldn't know beforehand.
Cheers! |

I was desperate for mine done in my early teens so instead of taking a pin or something sharp I took a staple and did it myself!
Eventually mum took me to get it done and bit of watery eyes and it was fine.

Had mine done when i was 16 and it wasnt fashionable...but i lovvvve it.
Eyes watered for a few seconds, then as long as you look after and clean it, all should be fine |

Holy crap. I'll stay away from my stapler. Thanks for the advice.
Glad it worked out for you in the end. |

"Personally i think they look awful but I'm sure what I think won't bother anyone lol"
It's always good to hear people's opinions. I didn't get it done earlier in life because the legal profession didn't look on it kindly. So perceptions are important.
At this stage I have gotten to the point where that isn't too much of a consideration for me, though, which is why I'm considering it again. |

I had one. Like being smacked hard in the face. Takes a couple of minutes to get over...
Took mine out to clean it too early and couldn't get it back in..not sure I suited it anyway. Healed very quickly though |

I had one. Didn't really hurt, just eyes watered and a pinching sensation.
I took it out when I moved into large market sales. If you're in a client facing role, I wouldn't get it done. Being taken seriously is more important. |

"I work in the legal profession too... no-one batted an eyelid but I'm very much in the outspoken camp and they're probably not brave enough. "
I like your attitude!
But when I was in law in NY, I even had to straighten my hair to cover the multiple earings in my ears. I think they are more conservative in the US in this regard.
Luckily I don't have to care anymore, though |

I've had mine for many years now, it's one of 2 piercings I have which i've never considered removing (I have 11 in total)
Top tip
Don't look when they pierce it-keep your eyes closed.
Otherwise you panic as it looks like you're about to be pierced with a scaffold pole! |

Get a neck tattoo. They won't notice your nose.
I think it depends on the person. I just looked like an idiot when I had mine done so I let it heal up. |

I suspect they were more concerned that I'd flash my tits!!
Seriously though, my tattoos and piercings are pretty unobtrusive and don't affect my capabilities. They're used to me now. I think they probably get in a flap more when I say I'm off to the hairdressers! |

A girl was having hers done while I was getting my tattoo a couple of weeks ago. 90 mins of tattooing and I didn't even flinch.. Sit a girl next to me getting a needle through her nostril and I nearly passed out. She was fine! Didn't make a peep.
I had mine done when I was 16 when they still did it with a gun, was no bother and I still wear it all the time when im not working. |

My stepdaughter has hers done, she is early teens, it looks awful and makes her look like shes trying to be alternative but failing miserably cus many kids her age have them lol.
I think they look silly and dirty and fake "alternative" ... yeah i know they probably arnt dirty but thats my perception. This is my view .... coming from someone who has lived an "alternative" life since teens lol. |

My advice, check with HR department and see if your company has a policy about facial/visible piercings.
It would be a shame to find out they didn't allow them after you've had it done. |

All that should matter is that you like the look.. Not what others think.... And if you don't like it.. Take it out and let it heal x |

I pierced my own many years ago Courtney - everything was sterile obvs. Never had any trouble with it and I loved it (only took it out when we had kids - babys are facinated with little shiny things lol).
Go for it, they look nice - you can always take it out if you don't like it and they don't leave a noticeable scar if you choose to let it heal back up xx |

I don't think it looks silly or dirty or fake.
It is what it is... I wear a tiny clear sparkle and it looks cool to me. I'm not alternative in any proper way, I just don't conform to what anyone else thinks. I like what I like and that's what matters.
If you don't like it, you take it out but it's my favourite so I'll be hanging out in my nursing home with a nose piercing in years to come. |

I think they look nice.
I wouldn't have one as I don't like my nose. I'm sure like most piercing they heel quickly if removed
I've got my tragus and VCH pierced and previously had my nipples pierced. |

I work for a local authority and our head of legal has hers done and it hasn't done her any harm career wise |

My daughter had hers done last year and when the school made a fuss I just got her a transparent stud. Just a thought if your work make a fuss |

I have my septum pierced ( her ) and it was an awesome experience, it doesn't hurt so much but it does make you want to sneeze and cough |

Yes.
It does make your eyes water but worth it. My experience is ghe hole closes up quickly sometimes so a couple of times its fallen out and I've had trouble getting it back. But then I don't use the normal stud with a pigs tail at the end. But yes I think they look great and there's still not many people with them so go for it. What's the worst ghats can happen. You don't like it you take it out and the hole closes....xxx |

Weird question but do they get picked up by the metal detectors at airports or similar? Could be an interesting conversation explaining. |
