Speaking from my own experience - I enjoy sounding as well (yeah, you can sound women too...) and from what my partners have told me about it...
The skin inside your urethra doesn't get touched. That means it's incredibly sensitive to being touched, so it barely needs anything to stimulate it and make it feel good. So it's kind of a bit like having a hand job from the inside, instead of on the outside (of course, you can also run your hand up and down the outside too - the two together feel pretty amazing apparently.
I like to insert a sound and use a vibrator on the tip of it - which you can then feel vibrating down the entire inside of the shaft (or right against the back of your clit if you're a woman).
If you're into stretching and being stretched, it's another hole to play with stretching. After some time you can take increasingly larger sized sounds which some people enjoy the thought of.
It can also be a control thing. It can be very psychologically invasive to put a metal rod inside the urethra, and some people enjoy that kind of thing. |

Medical sounds are a metal rod (there are different types) that are used by the medical profession (i.e. Doctors and Nurses) to enlarge the urethra for various reasons. |
