yes i feel a bit like that myself..cant keep up with the name changes being honest...after christmas will be just as bad...question is will they go back to original ones or choose something new again...arrggghhh x being away for even a couple of weeks can play havoc with whos who..i haveto recognise them by body parts from their pics sometimes  |

Nah its not work. Just been doing some research for a potential fusor project.
The electrical side isn't too difficult but the vacuum side requires just far too much effort and fabrication skill/equipment I don't have.
It can sit on the back burner till I get to 40 or if I ever find a diffusion pump :p |

Kind of vacuum pump,instead fo using moving parts it boils oil which travels up a tub then is directed downward through nozzles that accelerate the vapor and create a strong down draft( the vapour condenses on the cooled walls and returns to the heater at the base) this draws gas from the intake above where it is exhausted out of a vent in the side connected to a mechanical pump which compresses it back to atmospheric pressure eto be exhausted.
Expensive though it seems.

No there are things like turbo pumps or other positive displacement pumps ("normal" pumps" but the moving parts etc add complexity to something that is already way too detail oriented for me.
So if I ever come across one for free it would remove the main cost of the project (electrical system I could canabalise from a few old neon light transformers) that might make it worth while.
But spend g hundreds of pounds on something that would likely be abandoned before completion is just a waste |
