In life, are you the type of person who likes to look deeper into things? Do you notice patterns, motivations, reactions?
I realize that we all do this to some extent, but I'm interested in when you decide to look deeper and when the surface is good enough? Do you consciously have to take note of things, or is it something that you just gradually notice over time?
Just interested in general thoughts and opinions from you all, it's not a question that is specific to fab. Thanks for the discussion!

Most people will ignore everything that does not directly concern them.
Douglas Adams (hitchhikers guide) called it the S.E.P. Field (someone else's problem). There is always more to things than immediately meets the eye but we generally do not look or have time to consider things properly |

Yeah, that makes sense. But we alsomake decisions sometimes to look further into things. I'm interested mainly in when people feel the need to do that and why. A lot, I'd imagine, just depends on the type of person someone is, too. |

Understand what you mean, not sure I could explain why we do this, sometimes I guess its a gut feeling that says we need to investigate further and see what is hidden beneath the surface.
Some people will be naturally more inquisitive than others, but no one person could look deeply into every single thing, they would never get anything done. (like is forum mites haha) |

Yes, I notice things a lot. I'm a person who thinks far too much though

I tend to notice a lot. On here for example there's lots of patterns I notice and which make me smile when I see them all playing out again and again.
I tend to filter most of it out as trivial nonsense but I think I am relatively perceptive and sharp as to what's going on around me, but I guess sometimes it's those things that are so obvious and right in front of you that we miss .. |

If I meet someone new and they are going to get closer to me than just being an acquaintance then of course I look deeper into what makes them tick. This will either enhance or detract from any relationship formed. Similar likes or polar opposites each have their attractions in any friendship or relationship formed. Only by looking deeper into their psyche can you gain this insight. |

I like to know why a person reacts a certain way, why a plant will thrive in one room and not another, what made somebody choose red instead of black. It's damn annoying for other people.
So yes or do often look deeper but I've learned when to do so and when not to...mostly. |

I like looking at things in depth, and patterns are interesting, but I also lose interest quickly and change what to look into regularly, so I know very little about a lot
Footnote, Douglas Adams originally wrote hitchhiker's guide tertiary phase for Dr Who with Tom Baker, but it was rejected, so he tinkered to make it fit the hitchhiker's guide series |

Yes. If it's something that could be seen as being relevant to me and my life then yes I like to really look into things in great detail. I'm very much a completist. I like to know the full picture. I can also switch off big time if I see something as a waste of my time.
I like to learn. I like knowledge. Knowledge is power and all that. Life always feels like one long journey to me. To me it's all about making me a better person, a more complete human being. Being the best I can. It's all a very conscious process for me. I love having that sense of wonder about something and then delving into that subject deeper to learn more.
It's why I have such a huge, seemingley unconnected range of interests. For me they all inhabit the same universe. It's all about discovering...seeing the truth and beauty in things. It can drive me a little crazy sometimes. Like there's not always enough time to understand things sufficiently. |

It's a common aspie trait to delve deeply in a bid to understand the world but it can be detrimental. I struggle to determine what can be disregarded as unimportant and what is worthy of further investigation. I'm very curious and probably overanalyse to the point that it hinders me taking action. It's very difficult to make decisions and actually achieve something when there is so much to consider!

Yeah always have done but only if required... so if the person of interest is going to interactive with me over a period of time then helps to explain why they did/do something and how to manage the reaction you get from them... and sometimes it's helpful meeting new people as you can spot things quickly as you've already seen it before...
People watching is a good way of finding out so much without a word said...

I do, and I think I've answered a question, that has been asked for over 50 years.
What is doctor who's name
If I'm right, I'm going to be very sexually active with a lot of geeky women, so that's going to pay off lol |

I read more into a person's behaviour and what they do rather than what they say.
There's a surprisingly large amount of people in the world who completely contradict themselves in such a way... |

I'm an analyst, as in that's my job, but the real me isn't at all. I don't have the attention span. I don't tend to pay that much attention or have any interest in stuff that doesn't directly involve me or those I care about. However every now and then I am drawn into stuff, people, sounds and random stuff and when I do I'm like a dog with a bone. I dig into it, find out as much as I can about it, every last detail until my curiosity is fulfilled or I get bored. |

I'm an observer and like to form meaning and expand upon my theories. It's great to help your appreciation of life and to feel more in control. Truly fascinating - I couldn't live with my head buried. |

Sixth sense, I didn't realise you weren't supposed to know he was dead.
Lots of things I see like there is a bright light hovering over it.
Also I can have an ordinary conversation with someone and then a few days later from nowhere part of the conversation will pop into my head as not ringing true, I wouldn't have been thinking about it or anything |

Yes, all the time. I'm fairly sensitive to that kind of thing anyway, I'm fascinated by psychology, and the horse whispering has trained me to be acutely observant. |

Sometimes I look deeply into things, but often I prefer to amuse myself with absurd and complex explanations to the mundane things in life that others just take for granted. |
