I love independence day, it's one of my favourite sci-fi films, cheesy, full of action, with a half decent plot.
Let's hope the second one is half as good |

I remember watching the first one in the cinema back in '96, it's typical Roland Emmerich cheese but it's a great sci-fi action film

I have not seen the trailer yet but I will check it out later, I own the first movie on dvd anyway and I love watching it all sci fi and aliens shooting things up etc...
lets hope the sequel does not disappoint  |

I enjoyed the first one, but ye gods the human "tactics" were execrable. Why you'd fire air-to-air missiles with explosive quantities of under 5kg at something the size of a town reagrdless of the forcefield is beyond me... |

dark over lords breathing heavily and causing fear/terror through out a fictional galaxy/universe and destroying planets while fighting off ancient orders off peace keepers/aliens etc and the conflict within?

Sorry to break it to you, but it’s actually a big pile of pump. Not the prequel trilogy, not the original films, not the Holiday Special, the Clone Wars series, the dozens of video games or even the toys.
All of it.
Every single last bit of anything to do with Star Wars is a load of crap.
It's an overblown exercise in making money via special effects and a plot soooo thin you could fart it apart.
imo.
Maybe I was just never in to it as a kid and the movies seem to get worse and worse. |

I hated district 9.
I hate the half arsed mix of mockumentary and normal film style (is it a documentary crew filming or the usual magic floating eye of film make a desicion and stick with it) and the complete absence of a coherent plot.
I know it was semantic to be making a statement about apartheid etc but all it did was make a film with more holes than a block of Swiss cheese after a fate with a machine gun |

It's a "space opera" you have to look at it with the emotional and mental depth of coronation Street but you know in space
Then it all kinda makes sense, you can almost hear the emporers wife screaming "get out of my deathstar! !!!" |

It's Sci-fi ffs, you switch your brain off and watch, it's that simple, i did that when I watched Jurassic World, thoroughly enjoyable I thought deposit several things being wrong, but at the end of the day, it's a dinosaur movie, I enjoy sci fi movies cause they're an escape, yes cheesy most of the and downright awful some, but getting back to Star Wars, you can't ignore the phenomenon, or do people like to go against the grain to show their superiority of intelligence?  |
