Hi. Why is it when something like this happens abroad the charities are out in there droves rattling cans but you don't see them when it's in our own country. Jim |

It's still horrendous, but flood victims here have the council etc. to help and they should be insured. There is charity work and support going on though, it's maybe just more localised. |

It may have something to do with the fact that Cameron and Osborne have pledged tax money to more defences.
It may have something to do with people having insurance.
It may be because there are some things happening through local charities (and some of the national ones).
It may have something to do with the fact that awful as it is whole towns haven't been washed away with people dying.

A village near me is being evacuated for the second time tonight due to flooding - local people have been sending donations of food, blankets and clothing all week to designated collection points to help the families affected, plus businesses and farmers have been offering their services for free to help with the clean up. The community has really pulled together to help out |

Hi and thanks for responding.
Whatever happened to the old addedge 'charity begins at home'
It's great to see the locals pulling together but I still think it would be nice to see charities helping out as not all the folks will have the best insurance possible, have you? Jim |
