"I didn't realise it was SUCH a serious diagnosis. I thought it was just severe clumsiness. "
For me it's not ~that~ bad... just effects my hand eye coordination, spacial awareness, fine motor skills, social anxiety, general anxiety, organization skills & speech.
Though I find it rare that there's much discussion about it with other adults. |

My siblings speech isn't good, they both can't read and write, their motor skills aren't that bad, they hold down jobs (very basic but it's still work) my sister is very isolated also x |

I've only really read about DCD, so maybe I was looking at the more severe symptoms.

It is a similar condition In some ways to dyscalcula and dyslexia and other conditions group under the autistic spectrum disorders....which are fundamentally neurologily based....I'm dyslexic...

I'm somewhat the opposite to your siblings... my speech isn't that bad, though it took me years to use the "th" sound at the start of words rather than a "f" sound. If there's words I can't pronounce I don't use them... I only cracked "specifically" this year 
Reading & writing aren't problems at all for me. The only problem I've had with jobs is one at a care home where the manager didn't understand it & was incredibly unprofessional when I struggled x |

I think it was only really labelled in the 80s at some point so maybe some adults don't realize they have it due to not being diagnosed, and just put it down to being clumsy. |

After suffering two seizures and having detailed brain scans using functional magnetic imaging the consultant neurologists found some small differences in my brain which he thought would explain my condition... |

I know that I suffer from Aspergers Syndrome, though a couple of friends who both have previously worked as Psychiatric Nurses have implied that I may be Dyspraxic too.
It may explain why I make so many stupid mistakes. |

I'm still learning as my Son has just been diagnosed but no that he has the wealth of information and support is staggering. We are very lucky he is amazing, smart, confident and articulate, his handwriting is what ledo to the diagnosis and also explains why he is so clumsy, we have also had great support from his school  |

It's good that you're getting support from the school . I don't know how old your son is but when it's exam time he may benefit from a word processor if his handwriting is poor, the school should provide tho if they feel it's needed. |

yes i know it used to be known as clumsy child systroms and offten people with dixlia can have itx sorry severlly dislixa so cant spell but hopefully u can work out what i have said if u want me to gointo more detail i can x |

i am adult that has disprixa it effect things like keys on telephone keys in lock difficulty with sometimes fall over me own feet dropping thing etc yet i can function very well in the world x |

It's good that you're getting support from the school . I don't know how old your son is but when it's exam time he may benefit from a word processor if his handwriting is poor, the school should provide tho if they feel it's needed."
Hewlett is still really young we are very lucky to have caught it so quickly |
